Elachi Restaurant — Restaurant in England

Have used this restaurant for years and this is the first time that we have sadly had to write a negative review. We arrived at the restaurant and told the waiter we had a table booked for 2 people at 20:30 the waiter thought we had booked a table for 8 people and left us stood there while he looked confused. When we had convinced him it was just the 2 of us he showed us to one of the many empty tables. The waiter then came over and removed our napkins - not quite sure why!! He then asked if we would like poppadoms which we did and he returned 10 minutes later with them - 15 minutes after eating the poppadoms we were then asked if we would like to order a drink and main course!! We then waited a further 40 minutes for the main course to find that the butter chicken had changed immensely since we last visited the restaurant - instead of having a creamy buttery sauce it was more like a watered down chicken soup! Once we had finished eating we asked for the bill and usually at this point we are offered a complimentary drink or asked if we would like desert or coffee but this time we were just handed the bill and the waiter left. The whole evening was spent listening to customers getting irrate because they had been waiting almost an hour for their takeaway collections we also had to listen to the waiter on the phone dealing with complaints. Genuinely lovely experience!! My partner and I stopped in late about an hour before close and the staff kindly made up takeaway portions for our order, adding in a couple of extra little surprises as a gift. It was such a treat after a long day and as a random stop on our longish drive home. The achari chicken was my favorite selection. Tried it on a whim and the sauce was chef’s kiss so good. Such a lovely balance of salt, acid, spice, coriander, lime, onion, and so many other flavors. Savory and delicious. And the chicken chunks were large, and must have been caringly cut as they had none of the funny little bits of bouncy material chicken can sometimes surprise you with. My sweet husband wasn’t looking to try anything new tonight and even he thought the sauce was delicious after finally succumbing to my offers to let him try it. I popped back in for a bottle of soda to drink with a handful of change and the man helping us generously accepted what I had rather than having me pop out to the car to get the few extra coins. The feeling of generosity, humanity, and hospitality this place left me with, even end of night on a Sunday, was next level and is something you’d never get at a chain. Even if you have an eater with you who wants something familiar, they offer basic chicken strips and chips and those left my fussier eater a happy camper. A Wonderful Meal with Exceptional Service!

My recent visit to Elachi in Bridgwater was an absolute delight. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by how spotlessly clean and tidy the restaurant was, creating a very pleasant and comfortable atmosphere for our meal.

The food itself was thoroughly pleasurable. Every dish was beautifully presented, full of flavour, and cooked to perfection. It’s clear they use high-quality ingredients, and the menu offered a great selection to choose from.

What truly made our evening special, however, was the outstanding service. Our waiter, Jay, was fantastic. He was attentive, professional, and incredibly friendly. He greeted us with a warm smile and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed, making us feel genuinely welcome and looked after throughout our entire visit.
