Very poor signage externally, no one knows you're there, a small dark brown sign with black writing does not stand out one bit, no logo present either (positioning isn't entirely great as it's in a residential area anyways). No soft furnishings, no sofas, no pillows, all hard metal chairs and high big scaffold tables, not cosy. Can't stay long due to uncomfortable chairs. A coffee shop is meant for lounging, not sitting at a restaurant dining table on a metal chair. Music far too loud and 'young'. Poundbury is an older demographic, perhaps quieter soft piano or light jazz of some kind. No cream. No hot savoury food. Give people what they want. No cream and no savoury food cuts out a great deal of your customers. Cover your counter food, don't leave it exposed to flies and to the environment. Coffee size FAR too small. At least have two options of size. Find a way to legally allow non take away utensils on the seats outside. In general, the space is too bright and light, darker elements are needed combined with wamer lighting. The external metal electricals are a plus however.
Overall, I find it a waste of what could be a very comfortable and successful place of trade. These issues, I believe, is what kills a business, and seeing as this space most likely costs upwards of £50,000 per annum, it seems a waste. On the other hand, the warm sweet...
Read moreVisited the Poundbury last Monday, at 11ish, it wasn't that busy, 2 couples in the queue in front of me, 3 members of staff on. One was in the corner, oblivious to the customers in their, the young guy serving, not once acknowledged any customers and stood with his back to us most of the time, I stood in line for over 10mins,that my friends came back in to see if I had coffee's yet, but hadn't moved, in fact 2 more people had joined the queue behind me. The guy serving, took over 5mins with the 1st customer, hadn't finished the card transaction, said nothing to anyone, then stood with his back to us all. And started stocking a fridge, he then went over to the barista, pick up the previous customers coffee and gave to them, and then finished the transaction and started, on their order, not once acknowledgement, nor did the lady in the corner, look up or even come to see if they needed help, I walked out. Why should I pay for bad service. I can see why they are looking for staff. It's disappointing, as the poor service and not recognising customers is poor customer service, why should we treat ourselves to nice coffee and support a local business if 5he staff are too concerned with themselves and not the locals that are there for them. Or are we expected to travel into town to the main store for better service or will that...
Read moreI’m standing in the queue at Finca and have been for 10 minutes so far, 4 people in front of me and we haven’t moved. 3 people working. 1 in the ‘kitchen’, 1 who is I think making coffee and one poor bloke who seems to have to do everything else. The coffee and food all looks amazing and I think the company really cares about the quality of the coffee etc. but I’m not sure if I will ever get the chance to try! Finca management you need to employ at least another person for a nice Saturday morning, the current system doesn’t work! (Cinnamon buns look and smell amazing!)
(Update 1 : now 15mins. At the front of the queue but the bloke who is meant to be working the tills is now doing the washing up. 16 people in the queue behind me!)
(Update 2: left and gone round the corner...
