Lovely welcoming, friendly pub just behind Marazion's Beach over looking St Michael's Mount! Very cozy inside, it was a windy day as it was Xmas but it has a beautiful outside seating area also overlooking the beach, sea & the ancient cobbled tidal path that leads to the outstanding St Michael's Mount which u can only Cross wen the tides out & as walking across there's black rocks u can climb & take photos, All overlooked from the Quaint Fire Engine Inn š After asking 1st they kindly Let us bring our dogs in Mom's 2 little Chalkies & my Big softie Staffie & they got lots of fuss from customers & bar person, especially Stella my Staffie as Mom's little dogs - Clyde & Mitzi get a bit shy around Strangers & go 2 their Mommy #NotSpoiledAtAll Stella loves fuss, tickles & she loves a chat (if u hav or know a Staffie Ur know what I mean!) She is usually ignored or stereo-typed owing to her breed, but wrongly so as she's so loving, affectionate & after Bar lady asked if she was friendly & was it ok 2 stroke/fuss her & myself replying with "Oh Yes she's VERY friendly, if u start fussing her, she wont let u stop & want 2 thank u wiv kisses & a chat!" Stella was soon rolling on her back asking 4 tummy tickles & givin kisses & sitting against ladies legs so she can't go! Lol š As Stella's human Mommy, I want to thank that bar lady of The Fire Engine Inn - on Higher Fore St - Marazion- Penzance as she may not of realised but that means so much 2 me & I'm sure 2 Stella when she's just looked at as her a happy, friendly dog in that moment loving positive attention as she's judged as her breed so I know I've gone off Topic slightly but it's testament to the fire engine that we went in for refreshments after a long, walk along the beach across to the mount in quite a windy day & we were warmly welcomed, met friendly locals, felt very relaxed with our dogs & had great customer service, drinks, views & left refreshed, happy, positive & uplifted all from a decision to go for a drink. Highly recommended by, Myself, Mom, Step Dad, Mom's 2 Chalkie dogs Clyde & Mitzi š¾š¾ And my very greatful, happy Staffie furbaby...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo, we usually come to the Fire Engine every year for a nice meal whilst on holiday⦠we were due on holiday this year for my mums birthday, so I knew exactly where we wanted to go for dinner for her birthday treat⦠I telephoned and booked a table a few months in advance, knowing that itās usually really busy and youāre mostly not able to get a tableā¦
The day arrived and we were all so looking forward to going for dinner, so much so, we barely ate during the day to save room!! We arrived and it was eerily quiet which was odd⦠we were shown to our table by a really lovely member of staff (Iām sorry I canāt remember his name) he promptly brought us over some menus and told us to come to the bar if we needed drinks⦠when I booked, I did mention that Iād have two toddlers with us that had a dairy allergy, one of them has a worse allergy than the other⦠I was confused when I looked at the menu.. all that was available was pizza and salad?? I asked is this just an afternoon menu and he replied that it was in fact a new reduced item menu!! I was told previously over the phone that they could absolutely cater for our two allergy toddlers⦠but there was nothing on the menu for them⦠we did ask what happened to the scampi and chips, the steak, the absolutely beautiful menu that they did have⦠and we were told that they could do us fish and chips if thatās what we wanted⦠but why isnāt it on the menu then?? Is it frozen old stock from before the menu change??
Really disappointed that this wasnāt mentioned to us when booking over the phone⦠we didnāt stay and instead went and had a Chinese in Penzance which was beautiful!!
I just say though, the staff were extremely polite and apologetic and the young gentleman that seated us looked extremely embarrassed about the menu situationā¦
This needs to be highlighted when booking⦠itās such a shame because the previous owners had the menu āSpot onāā¦....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was disappointed with the food I received today at lunchtime. I was hungry, so I ate it all and didnāt want the very young waitresses to field my dissatisfaction when they asked me how it was. But I wasnāt asked āhow was it for you?ā when I paid my bill, so Iām writing this review.
I had the halloumi, as Iām vegetarian, but it certainly wasnāt worth Ā£14, especially compared to my partnerās lamb roast at just Ā£12. The amount of food (some halloumi and some salad) was very small for the money and the whole meal tasted only of vinegar. This was probably caused by the capers, but that doesnāt excuse it. One even might have expected some bread for the price paid, but that wasnāt present or offered. When there is only a limited amount of vegetarian options offered, I would hope that the one available (ignoring the bog standard offering of pizza) to be filling and tasty. Unfortunately it was neither. Itās a great pity as the setting is great and the garden has great views. But those havenāt offset the disappointing food. There was only one draught beer on tap (Tribute - which isn't to my taste - too sweet) and a bottle of Proper Job propped up on the bar as if to say "look, we've got other beers in bottles". I emailed them, but they only seemed interested in the "how was it for you" issue and not the extremely poor food I received. I wouldn't eat there again, or...
