The owner of Five Guys has, hopefully unwittingly, stolen a year or two of my lifespan. At my age, I'm supposed to be eating less of this kind of 'fast' food, but when it tastes this good, who really has the willpower to care?? I've tried to quit, but quitting is - after all, for losers.
If your idea of a good burger is a bigmac, or bk, prepare to be pleasantly blown away. Sure, they might be half the price of one of these but the difference, experienced by the uninitiated is always an enjoyable entertainment. Full of taste, juicy and massively filling, these burgers are a premium product.
I understand their portioning of fries is all part of their business plan, but I still can't quite fathom why they always provide around twice as many as you'd expect.
Burgers are made to order and the list of potential toppings (all included in the price) seems to go on forever.
Did I mention their milkshakes? Don't get me started. Let's just say they don't disappoint. I'd like to see my kids turn adult, so I save those for special occasions.
I've seen people eat their hotdogs. I'm told they're very good too. But to me, Five Guys is a burger joint first and foremost and, as I could never manage one of each, the hotdog will always be on my 'maybe next time' list.
Do not operate heavy machinery shortly after consuming a burger, fries and shake - unless you have the metabolism of a teenager.
Is all this stuff good for your health? Maybe not.
Is it good for your soul?...
Read moreWhen I went it wasn't too busy, there were only a few orders ahead of me being prepared. I ordered a burger, fries, and milkshake for takeaway.
It took about 5 or so minutes to serve my food, but it then took a further 10 to serve my milkshake. This meant that my food and fries were going cold and soggy waiting for my drink...
The problem was they had 4 people working visible at the time. 2 quickly served me and a couple of others, while 2 worked at the grill and fries. After serving me and another customer, one returned to help make the burgers, leaving 1 person on the till, who turns out was the only person also making the milkshakes. But every time a new customer walked in, they dropped what they were doing on the milkshake to add another order to the queue (which could have waited as there were already half-dozen orders ahead of them). This meant that the milkshakes were not done and backing up for me and several other orders. Eventually someone appeared from the back and assisted in making the milkshakes. I think the first person was having some trouble with the machine but no one said anything to us waiting if that was the case.
This was my first time at this new location, only having been to the one at the BH2 twice before without a similar issue. I'll update my review in the future if I go again, I hope management sees this and makes sure their staff are properly supported, cause if this was on a busy night I would not want to have been the one...
Read moreWe went into this Restaurant last night all excited as we have never tried "Five Guys". We went in and when we got to the till my husband said not to forget to tell them about my mushroom allergy/intolerance. I looked on the menu and saw that there was very little that contained mushrooms so did not think there would be a problem. We told the guy who was taking our order about my allergy and he shouted straight away to a lady saying "we have an allergy" to which she replied "what is it ?". I said "mushrooms". She smirked and said to a colleague quietly "thats not an allergen !". I agree it is not one of the main 14 (we run a food business also), however it is still an allergy which will make me seriously ill/fatal. I said to the guy taking the order, that I am fine as long as none of my food comes into contact with any area where mushrooms have be present, to which the lady then replied as well as pointing "mushrooms have been here, here, here and there", basically pointing at every surface. How could this be ? Surely the mushrooms are also for the vegetarians and vegans. Do they really want mushrooms that have been cooked/put on the same surface as meat etc. Obviously we did not eat there and will not in the future. As anyone who has an allergen will know. It is embarrassing enough to have to mention it, but to treated in this manner is just not on ! Bad...
