Absolutely awful service last night. Rushed and made to feel unwelcome from start to finish, dishes taken away before we had finished eating them and constantly reminded of how long we had left before they needed the table back. I have never experienced such rudeness when eating out. To add insult to injury we were told to keep a toddler’s music down to be considerate of other guests, when the restaurant was so loud we could barely hear it or each other talking! The cherry on top… I felt extremely unwell after the meal!
Edit after response:
Let it be noted that I also rarely feel the need to leave a review, but felt so upset and disappointed by the way we were treated.
It seems your establishment believe respect and consideration is a one way street.
We completely respect that the table may have needed to be returned by a certain time, although we were not made aware of this until 6:15, but there is a way to communicate this without being rude and pressurising, which is unsettling during an evening out.
In order to improve on your efficiency it might help to ensure when the table is booked for a party including a baby, that you provide a high chair and not spend 10 minutes trying to attach a booster seat, provide a kids menu and more than 1 drink menu. Additionally, when asked for food to be unsalted, ensure that the food does not arrive with added salt and not need to be returned.
It might also be nice to check on whether everything was to satisfaction during the meal and not just add on a £35 service charge after providing less than acceptable service. Not once were we asked if everything was ok, just constantly told to hurry up, have unfinished dishes removed from our table and asked turn things down! The very loud groups next to us were not asked the same thing. It is interesting to note that we observed you being friendly and accommodating to plenty of other guests and it seems the noticeable difference here was that we were the only table in your establishment that had a majority of people who were of colour.
With regards to helping clean up the mess I would have been more than happy to oblige and actually planned to however we were pretty much stared at and made rude remarks about by your staff standing over us, before I could even gather my things. No offer from yourselves to even finish our mostly full...
Read moreCame here twice to get through their menu since I was staying here 2 days. Place was clean so good standards maintained by staff. Great food and lovely attentive staff. You can take a doggy bag if you can't finish your meal.
I took my tiramisu as a takeaway as even the small dishes leaves you completely stuffed. So hoping after a walk back to the hotel I will have room for my much anticipated dessert! Recommend taking up their early bird menu which has some great options so that you can have a 2 or 3 course meal from set menu if you are on a budget. Not too expensive considering the quality of the dishes. The size of everything I had was enough to share so don't disregard this place because of price, share your meal to fully enjoy your meal with your other half etc.
The staff are even good at making sure you are happy or not to pay the service charge! They dont do that in London I can tell you so if you felt you were left unattended or whatever dont feel bad to say no to the charge being added!
If there are 2 of you, pizzas are big enough for 2! So make room for dessert, I don't think you will disappointed as there is a great choice for every palate.
If you are here for the conference I highly recommend eating here as it feels and tastes authentic. Not your rubbish Pizza Express that they pass as Italian! They serve soft drinks which still have sugar and tastes great! Enjoy as I know you will like the food as much as I have. Just wish the conference lasted longer to work my through more of the menu :) But I guess this is where it you know its a private business and you feel the difference to eating in a non-chain restaurant which is why the standard persists and maintained with each visit I have made during my stay in Harrogate. Fingers crossed I have another conference here in the near future! Thank you Brio team for a lovely dining...
Read moreAfter a morning exploring Harrogate, we looked for a relaxing place to get a good lunch. We chose wrong. From the moment we entered we felt rushed. We were met at the door and shown to a table. I explained I had a food allergy [milk & tomatoes] and my friend is gluten & dairy free. Asking if they could offer suitable dishes, were reassured. They do not have an allergy book. I wonder in hindsight if there was a language issue and we were not understood? I asked for a red wine, but needed to see the bottle to check [milk is sometimes used in the fining process] I was told bluntely that no wine has milk in it! So I chose a beer to be safe. We hardly had time to read the menu before the wait person was hovering behind us. Some un requested nibbles were brought to the table [we thought as a freebee; no!]. 2 dips and bread buns. My friend asked if there were any gluten free buns, after disappearing a GF bun was brought for us both, I asked if it contained milk? Mine was taken away, then brought back and reassured it was milk free. Our mains were very good; I had Tuna & bean salad with a balsamic drizzle, with the quantity of beans it could benefit from a sauce. Americano pizza, chillies, cheese onions & pepperoni very nice, but bases a bit hard. With the swift service we had no pause between courses, we all had a feeling of being rushed and watched all the time by the meet and greet wait person, standing by the bar. As we finished I complimented them on a tasty dips and asked what they were made from? I was told that one was a tomato & onion dip! Unfortunately I did react and spent the following 5 days suffering from a migraine headache. Not a good use of holiday time. I will not...
