Visited Gran Caffe Lollo yesterday, food was delicious and well made, light menu is limited but has a choice of sandwiches and salads, I had a mozzarella & pesto Ciabatta and mum had a salmon & goats cheese ciabatta. They were ample in size and the price is a little more than I would normally pay for lunch but as a treat it is worth the money. I can see why they charge what they do and the food was fresh. As the restaurant had just opened this week we could see staff getting used to their surroundings but they were brilliant considering how busy it was. There is a big selection of desserts and the chocolate gelato was very chocolatey and very yummy. 1 scoop is £3.80 but it is a large scoop so again no complaints.
Our only complaint is that table 33 is very cold my hands were icy and it was a draft from the air conditioning. I know the staff get warm but I won’t be sitting at that table again.
My other observation was the accessible toilet. The door is wide enough to get a wheelchair in. however the yellow bin is blocking access for turning. It could have done with being a larger room and being a changing places toilet. The changing table wouldn’t hold older children or adults. It feels like design was put before accessibility in there of which the decor is lovely but it could do with being a larger space. Moving the bin or making the bin smaller and having a handle on the top again for accessibility would allow more room for turning a chair and moving from chair to toilet and back.
The overall vibe of the place is lovely and is accessible all around the cafe.
The cannolis though I was excited to have one but they couldn’t say which one had Nuts in so couldn’t eat one (insert sad face) the staff member on the till didn’t actually know what the fillings in the cannolis were so I had to ask someone else.
Staff were a little unsure on what was in the dessert cabinet as mum asked what something was and was told it’s like a Viennese whirl with custard in. However it was more of a custard profiterole. So maybe if staff made themselves aware of fillings and what desserts were before their shift I think it would help customers make more...
Read moreThe Gran Caffé Lollo is diverse and enticing. It features a variety of Italian delicacies, from freshly made gelato and pastries to hearty sandwiches and salads. Whether you're in the mood for a decadent treat or something lighter, there’s plenty to choose from. The beverages are equally impressive, with rich Italian coffee, luxury hot chocolate, and alcoholic options like cocktails and wine. The quality of the food and drink is excellent, reflecting the café's dedication to providing an authentic Italian experience. The ambience is both cosy and vibrant, making it an ideal place to unwind. While Gran Caffé Lollo has quickly gained popularity for its authentic Italian offerings and inviting atmosphere, there are a few areas where improvements could be considered:
Service Speed: Some customers have noted that the café can get quite busy, leading to longer wait times for orders. Streamlining service during peak hours could enhance the overall customer experience.
Menu Variety: While the menu is rich in Italian classics, expanding options to cater to dietary restrictions—such as more vegan or gluten-free alternatives—might attract a broader clientele.
Pricing: A few patrons have mentioned that the prices, while reflective of the high quality, could be more competitive, especially for takeaway items. Offering promotions or loyalty discounts could help.
Seating Comfort: With a large seating area, ensuring that all tables are comfortable and well-arranged, even during busy times, could improve the ambience further.
Addressing these points could enhance the experience at Gran Caffé Lollo and solidify its place as a top spot in Morpeth.
Overall, Gran Caffé Lollo is a must-visit for anyone in Morpeth. It’s not just a café, but a small slice of Italy where you can savour the finer...
Read moreDissapointing visit, closed for a private event and lollo rosso next door is constantly packed to the rafters or closed and they also requires 3 weeks notice for any booking. Traveled for half an hour to give it ago just finished an 8hr shift at work and drove over to find the closed sign on the door. yes I probably should have checked the facebook page but when its open 8 hours a day everyday theres not much need to check is there? drove past several lovely restraunts to be completely dissapointed at the door of gran caffe lollo to see the private function were only using 10% of the space. They only accept walk in's when they feel like it. my custom wont be missed i know that but id sooner chew my own nipples off then try and visit again to which I'd probably find a closed sign. Wasn't much of a completely wasted journey we visted martino lounge 1000% unreal more affordable and more than likely a better service. make sure you check the facebook before you go or give them a ring and they will fit you in late august or they will probably be closed. I was asked by gran caffé lollo to amend this review and I feel that I should appologise to the parts you found insensitive, I would have also liked an appolgy but your email clearly stated that it was...
