I was breaking a journey in Knaresborough and came here based on Google recommendations. I have to say that I agree with the positive ones and am scratching my head over the very negative ones! There was a fine-looking range of items, all well presented. Unfortunately I could not try everything (!) but enjoyed a generously filled ham and tomato sandwich with proper baked ham. Also bought a large piece of parkin to take home (apologies if I cleared out the stock ...) that turned out to be delicious when it was time to sample. I've only gone for 4 stars rather than 5 because my flapjack was not as stickily chewy as I like but that's just personal taste (and very much a first world problem). If I did not live 100 miles away then I'd probably be visiting Hirsts a lot more than would be good for my...

Visited today and picked up a few bits… not for me personally. One member of staff was being very rude to the other girl in the shop at the time, or so it seemed from a customer perspective, barking orders and interfering with how they were serving us and getting her all muddled up. Got two of the panini pizzas that looked lovely in the display, soon found out they were as hard as rocks and struggled to bite through the base. Also got a couple of the bueno cupcakes… buenos on top were soggy - seemingly out in the open/on display for a good few days, icing also tasted off or out of date - didn’t seem right at all, and the cake itself was very dry and not the softest.

Maybe I caught them on an off day but this visit wasn’t a...

Poor hygiene and health and safety by The older lady who served me,she had open wounds around her nails and black in her finger nails. She picked up the carrot cake I ordered no gloves sticking her fingers in to the cream, she boxed up the items leaving cream all around the box. I couldn't bring myself to eat it.

Few days later walked past the shop and saw her grabbing a sausage roll with her whole hand, again no gloves.

She really needs to learn about handling people's food. I mean come on, open wounds and fingers in the cream 🤮

The other ladies in there do not do this, they are lovely and use paper to pick the items. It's salad fingers needs taking to the back and having a talking to, or sending...

Had been wanting to go in here for a while, it was closed last time I visited so today I stocked up on a few items. Buying one of their bread and butter puddings was a must, and I got one of the large meringue tarts too. Nothing has any prices on, so the total was a bit of a shock, I had to go back in to double check there hadn't been an error made on the meringue price. There hadn't. Ooo, errrr, missus, shan't be buying another one of those then. What I have sampled so far has been nice, but I think more for a special treat for me, rather than anything more regular, as it's a bit on the pricey side.

We looked in the window and the display of buns and cakes just drew us into the bakery it’s so refreshing to see such a selection of different breads cakes and buns not to mention the bread and butter pudding they also do a selection of pies savouries and sandwiches I have to say I’ve just eaten a couple of slice of the granary loaf so tasty and filling this is not a restaurant My only comment why don’t you display prices on your breads and cakes well worth a visit
