Having already tried the So Bar in Harrogate, we thought we would be on safe ground going to the one in Knaresborough in order to celebrate my wife's birthday. Unfortunately this was not the case. We do understand that the food is freshly cooked, but two and a half hours from arrival to departure for a three course meal was too long. To add to this we had to share one menu between four, another was promised but never arrived. There was a long delay before our order was taken and this was only after we stopped one of the waitresses. They kept walking past us even when our menu was shut and at one point I saw them all talking at the kitchen entrance. First course arrived quite quickly and was good. We are used to dining out and waiting between courses, but it was so long we found ourselves asking more than once where the main course was. Towards the end we were told there were "just plating up"- again there was a long delay. Most of the food was good, but the lamb was cold. We were so fed up by then we made no comment. We asked for some desserts, again there was a long delay and when we asked about them we were again told they were "just being plated up". When it arrived it was fine. We realise we were there on a Saturday lunchtime and it was initially busy, but by the end of our meal the pub was more than half empty. The service was still painfully slow and we did not feel our complaint was taken at all seriously. I very rarely write reviews, but on this occasion felt the experience was so unpleasant I had to write something. If you would like, in the main good food, but are willing to spend all afternoon waiting for it with apparently indifferent staff then this is the place for you. We won't...

Wow! I recently had the pleasure of dining at So!bar and eats in Knaresborough, and it was an experience that will linger in my culinary memory for a long time. From the moment I walked in, the inviting atmosphere and friendly staff set the stage for what would be a remarkable meal.

I started my evening with a Gamma Ray APA, a beer that truly lives up to its name. The richly flavoured American Pale Ale was a delightful blend of hoppy goodness with a smooth finish. Its vibrant notes of citrus and tropical fruits paired perfectly with the hearty meal that followed.

The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the Beef and Blue burger. This masterpiece featured a juicy beef patty topped with crispy bacon and a generous helping of blue cheese, all nestled in a perfectly toasted bun. Each bite was a symphony of flavors - the richness of the beef, the smokiness of the bacon, and the tangy sharpness of the blue cheese came together in perfect harmony. The accompanying chips were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, making them the ideal sidekick to the star of the show.

Overall, So! bar and eats provided an unforgettable dining experience. The combination of an exceptional drink, an amazing burger, and a welcoming atmosphere makes this place a must-visit. If you're in Knaresborough and looking for a spot that serves up incredible food and drink with a smile, So! bar and eats should be at the top...

I cannot fault So! bar and eats in any way whatsoever. Having decided upon going for lunch here, after some precarious rain clouds left my colleagues and I little to no option, I was more than pleasantly surprised with our decision to do so.

The service was not only prompt, but warm, and we were all able to order our food within the first five to ten minutes of arriving.

The menu was originally unique, offering a variety of starters, mains and desserts which I'm sure would appeal to any and all who happen to dine here.

The food in return could not be faulted, whatsoever. It was absolutely delicious, and boasted a wide range of flamboyantly different flavours, all in just a single course.

In regards to price, I believe I got, if not more, than what I paid for, and I didn't begrudge spending a single penny less than what I did for the wonderful food in return.

Overall, given the opportunity, I would definitely eat here again, happy in the knowledge I could confidently choose something, if not anything on the menu, that I'm most certain I would, without doubt,...

Came here with a group of work colleagues on a Tuesday evening. Although I live locally I haven't been in for a few years, but have always enjoyed their food. I got the lost boy burger which was 'stuffed with garlic and cheese' Although the burger was not overcooked and was still juicy in the middle, I think the 'stuffing' had come out of the sides as there was a lot of cheese on the side of the burger, and not much of a garlic taste. Was still a really good burger though, and served in a really nice pretzel bun. I asked to upgrade to the handmade fries but when the burger was served it only had the standard fries. Before I could even say anything, the waitress apologised for the mix-up and said she'd bring out some handmade fries (Impressive server!) I got the benefit of trying both types of fries, and although the handmade fries were really lovely, their standard fries were also very good and much better than fries at other restaurants. Service was great throughout the whole meal and all my colleagues also enjoyed their food. Would definitely come back in future.

Me and my partner visited Knaresborough for the 1st time on Sunday (25/06). We needed to find somewhere to eat and with my partner having a milk and gluten intolerance it's quite hard to find a place to eat. We googled and we came across this place! It was only a 10 minute walk from the waterside so off we went. He asked for a gluten free menu and was so surprised at how big the menu was! Nearly everything on the normal menu was gluten free! It was so nice that we could actually share starters! He got the Yorkshire wrap and said the beef was mouthwatering! Haha I got the cajun chicken melt! The Korean chicken balls were beaut too! We are so sad that we live an hour and a half away! But tbh if we lived closer we would be fat and skint haha keep doing what you are doing guys! Amazing food, service and pub! We will be back soon!
