Badly run pub, defends bullies and appallingly behaved "adults". NOT child friendly so please do not take your children in there. We went in during the afternoon, sat out of the way and kept our toddlers under control in a confined area but were threatened by locals who were annoyed because my son let out a sheik, which I apologised for. Then my friends little girl (18 months old) NEARLY threw a small plastic object but we stopped her as we were watching the children's every move. The group of men and women in their 70's threatened that if the little girl had throw it, WHICH SHE HADN'T AS WE'D STOPPED HER, then his female partner would kick her! They then moved but reported US to the bar and we were told by the Owner we were not looking after our children and made to feel very unwelcome. I explained we were looking after them, that's why we were sat out of the way and had hemmed them into a confined seating area. I explained how the adults had behaved but this didn't matter to the Owner who said they're not really a child friendly pub. So what if an adult with a mental health issue goes in and upsets this same group? I will never go back nor take my child there again. I strongly suggest the Owner removes the signs about allowing children in and changes it to NO children allowed for the safety of the children as they are clearly not capable of protecting vulnerable children. Would have put 0 stars...
Read moreGreat pub located in the heart of Shifnal. Great selection of gins, wines, bubbles and my partner loved the selection of ales and Belgian beers available! Staff were helpful and really professional even though they were extremely busy.
Despite a few reviews on here saying they do food - they don't, only for private functions when a buffet is requested, as confirmed by the bar staff as we were looking to eat here. We were shown the function room as we showed interest, for which is perfect for a family function or party and the prices for hire and buffets were reasonable.
After speaking to the owners (who have been there for the last 18+ years), who are lovely, apologised for not doing food but offered recommendations for other places in Shifnal.
They're open 12pm - 1am which is perfect, the atmosphere is definitely more 'adult', especially as they don't do food. We thought it was perfect for when we don't have the kids, its the perfect bar to sit and have a beautiful gin in a large glass with lots of ice and a well kept beer, whilst being able to have a conversation without the worry of younger generations being too rowdy or children running around - we shall be...
Read moreThe place itself looks to have been recently decorated. We sat on an outside area on a beer barrel formed into a bench seat. It did not have a number like other tables and chairs had. When ordering the staff insisted that I give a table number before I could get served. Fortunately when I went away to find another table one had become free. Massively slow service of drinks at this public house. It all seemed to be grinding to a halt! I went twice to the bar and could see the drinks sitting on it behind perspex. I offered to take the drinks myself the staff insisted on doing so but then went elsewhere! When the member of staff did serve the drink she did apologise for the wait served the drinks and screwed up the receipt that came with it. We watched as others were offered the receipt later. I won't be...
