Kaspa's Yate — Restaurant in England

I've been here a few times and each visit worse than the previous one so will not be going back.

Considering how many staff they have and how few customers have been there when I have been in the service is ridiculously slow.

This time 3 other tables had customers. One was finishing up, one seemed to he getting their orders in drips - ie items coming one at a time. Could not see the other table as was behind me. 6 staff faffing around.

During my last visit I was stood at the counter, menu in hand for ages. A second customer then also stood waiting. Finally a member of staff came up (I was distracted by my Grandson who came to see what was taking so long) and she went straight to the bloke. Didn't ask who's first, and he was just as ignorant and didn't says I was there first/check if I needed serving. He said he thought I'd been served when I pointed out I was there before him. Don't know why he thought that when I was still holding a menu and waiting at the counter!

Then the girl didn't understand what I'd ordered. One scoop of ice-cream in a cone and 2 scoops, 1 vanilla, 1 cookies and cream in a cup. She came and asked if that was 1 scoop of each in 2 separate cups!

Crepes still not available and the table nearest the door seems to have been broken for months. Upstairs section always closed when I have been in.

Worst customer service I...

Very busy restaurant! We were found a table fair quickly as we were only a three. Host was very friendly, knew what he was talking about and pointed us in all the relevant directions ir toilets and tills for ordering. Person in front of us had a large order of which 1/3 items unavailable so this took some time. When we ordered we also asked for a glass of water, which confused the person on the till - just for one not all three - yes that's correct, oh err okay then. So order placed and returned to our seats to wait, and wait a little bit more - we appreciated they were busy but looked fully staffed so we waited some more. One of our orders came out - lemon crepe, the two others insisted it was eaten and theirs wouldn't be long..... when this was almost finished and with no sign of the hot drink or two other waffles a second lemon crepe appeared. The waiter explained how when something was made they usually take it off the order screen - all very interesting but still waiting. He gave us the second crepe for free, as it wasn't our fault. Another 8 mins later and the two waffles arrived and then the hot drink but no sign of any water (it was on the till receipt) so eventually we asked the host who seemed a little meh to be asked for water but did it and produced 3 glasses. Overall our food was okay, the service okay but slow and restaurant...

As for the food, it tasted good, but anyone with a waffle machine and some toppings could recreate the waffle pretty well, for a cheaper price than £7. The cookie dough is very good. Tried the blue bubble slush, more of a smoothie, and very odd tasting.

As for customer service, it’s a bit horrific. My friend went and was served an undercooked waffle and when she complained the staff told her that “you can’t complain unless you’re 18.” In my experience, it’s common to get uninterested staff at the till who tend to mix up or mess up your order. When I went most recently, they kept spraying a horrid smelling cleaning product in the air and on the tables, it smelt like glass cleaner to be honest.

Also, the entire upstairs section is for reservations only, which is a really big problem, as I’ve only ever seen one family rent a table. Even when the downstairs is packed and there are 20 minute waits to get a table, they still won’t let you upstairs, and will ask customers downstairs to hurry eating and to leave.

Overall, the food is decent, but the customer service is terrible and the whole thing is overpriced.

My recommendation is to get a white Chocolate or milk chocolate cookie dough, in a takeaway box. Taking it home would be much better than eating it in...
