KFC Consett - Hermistone Retail Park — Restaurant in England

Visiting here on a Tuesday, 11.30, just before college descended on it, it was nice and quiet. Ordering from a kiosk was the usual run around but eventually got there. Service comes via an employee at the till yelling your number across the counter. There aren't any pleasantries, not a hello, here's your order, thank you - just a take your order approach. OK. The meal itself (see pics and receipt for price) was OK- I didn't expect that ! It was quick service but for an empty place, I'd expect it. The chicken was hot, nicely cooked and quite delicious. The signature fries were a lot down. 36 fries - yes I counted them, a lot were end bits and small, not whole fries. They were "kid friendly temperature", which together with them being greasy and some nearly hollow, made me think they'd been lying in a heat box for a while. Tasty but too greasy for me. You also don't realise until you're half way through your meal, you have to go back to the counter and request napkins! A bit of a shame for the time of day and lack of customers. This was a missed opportunity to impress me to be a loyal customer returning time and time again. In summary, if your a KFC fan, then this is on par for you - if you're still waiting to be a convert like me, you'll have to wait a little longer to...

I've held back reviewing but I'm having problems almost every time I go. I really like the food as a treat once in a while but the staff almost always get my order wrong. I went round the drive-thru the day after they got it wrong once and told the manager who asked me why I didn't call up the previous day to complain and that because I didn't know the name of the staff member they don't know who to go and shout at (worrying to hear from a manager). I typically get the wrong amount of chicken and always get a leg when I ask not to have one. Tonight I've gone round and the guy at the window was really nice and said the chicken would be a while but I could have boneless so I ordered four pieces and only three were in the box when I got home. I also ordered a large and received a medium. I don't want to have to sit at the window and double check my order each time but I feel I have to now otherwise it's almost certainly be wrong. When it's right it's a pleasant surprise. Please can more staff...

Stopped in for dinner while working in the nearby business park. The store was very quiet for a lunchtime - we got served nice and quickly, and found a table ok, though the store was a little messy.

The food was "ok" - nothing wrong with it, but it wasn't great. Certainly my fries tasted like they'd been under the heat lamp for just a little bit too long, and the chicken had a slightly dry and chewy texture. Still hot, still edible, but just not a massively enjoyable meal. Nothing wrong with the drinks or cookies though. It certainly filled a hole and let us grab a nice quick dinner before getting back to work - but on reflection it was one of those meals where I'd wished we'd gone into Morrisons and grabbed a sandwich meal deal for half the price and it would have tasted slightly better too.
