First visit to Lal Qila, and definitely my last. On entry you're greeted with a fairly dated reception area. The waiting staff are all fairly smart in white shirts and black ties, some polite, others not so. The main dining area, is again a bit dated but clean. The starter... I had an onion bhaji which looked lovely but turned out to be fairly tasteless and was a bit cardboardish to eat. My partner had prawn buna on puri, she said it was quite nice. My son had prawn cocktail that he says was nothing fancy. Main course... I ordered chicken tikka buna....allegedly. Very little onion, spice or taste and definitely no tikka chicken. My partner ordered rogan josh, Her opinion was that it was not very good with very little taste no spice and again no tikka chicken and a rather small portion. My son ordered chicken tikka marsala, This was again disappointing. A glass of wine comes with your meal, but I wouldn't bother, obviously a cheap wine, the coffee was cold served with a slick of cream on the top. The dessert was either a spoon of fruit cocktail or ice cream, the fruit cocktail was just that nothing extra the same goes for the ice cream just one scoop no sauce just plain. Not the worst I've had but a very long way of the best. Can't say we'd ever be back or ever recommend..... Some hours after my visit to this place, I must let you know I now have sickness and a fondness of sitting on the loo 🤮🤢. I ate nothing before the meal and have had nothing...
Read moreFood was good however service was poor and unfriendly and we will not be returning. We arrived a bit early so we could sit in the reception area and have a drink before sitting at our table however we were refused this and quickly ushered to our table . We asked if we could have an extra mango instead of the onion dip but this was also declined saying it was a ‘set’ condiment . Ordered drinks however my shandy was a pint instead of 1/2 pint and my wife’s small bottle of Prosecco was plonked on the table unopened - in other restaurants this would be opened and poured in a glass in a courteous and professional manner. After eating our condiments a waiter arrived to clear our plates and cutlery however when I tried to hand him my used fork he just snatched it away from me . A waiter noticed my wife had just finished eating her main and asked if he could take her plate away to which she replied yes and although I had not said I had finished my main he assumed I had and took it away anyway ! We asked for some tap water and the waiter seemed annoyed and asked ‘for the both of you ?’ When we finally asked for the bill we were informed that the we could not pay by card as their machine was not working so we had to pay by cash or bank transfer . All in all it was not a pleasant experience and will not...
Read moreWe arrived without booking on a random October night and it was super busy as usual. We got seated straight away and given menus and the drinks orders were done promptly. The food was amazing and restaurant is very clean as are the toilets. My problem comes when the waiters make you feel like you are a massive inconvenience! Some of them stand in a line watching every sip of your drink and every fork full of food you eat some walk around and around the tables looking for empty glasses to look busy!!!..we wernt half way down our drinks and were asked from 3 different waiters if we wanted more drinks. When we got our food the order was nice, but as the waiter served my mum from the sizzling platter he dropped some chicken on her lap and on the floor! They proceeded to bring her 2 random bits of chicken from somewhere even though she said she didnt want anything extra! We had no sooner put our knife and fork down to finish our meal and our plates were whisked away. It made us feel like they wanted us out! As fast as possible! Shame because ots a lovely local curry house but you cant relax...
