I'd just walked from Ambleside, around Loughrigg Fell, so was hungry on arrival in Grasmere at lunchtime. Google ratings drew me to Lucia's, so I headed to College Street only to find it wasn't open. But round the corner on Broadgate I then spotted little bakery with a couple of outside tables and a few high stools inside. This place was perfect, and it was open. I discovered this place was Luciaâs, too. My plateful of three salads - no meat, fish or dairy; no lettuce or cucumber - was delicious and filling. I remember beet, barley and toasted nuts; orzo with roasted cucumber; and mayo-free roast potato salad. My request for decaffeinated tea was approved, so I was very happy. But the show stopper was the coffee art done by this incredible barista whose name I forgot to ask. I have never seen a swan on a cappuccino and a bunny rabbit on a cortado âŚ.fantastic!!
