Ok where do I start.
We have been regular diners at Lucia for a year now. This review relates to our visit last week. We arrived at 12.05pm. We were the second couple in the restaurant. We placed our order within 10 minutes as we knew what we wanted to eat. 12.45pm our food had still not arrived so I asked the staff to find out why our food was taking so long. It arrived some 5 minutes later with no apology what so ever.
So, the bill arrived and rightly so I told the server to take the service charge off because I only tip for good service. Still No apology followed. So I said to the girl "are you not going to ask why I am unhappy?" She turned her head away, obviously too embarrassed by any form of confrontation (typical Gen Z) I then said "what are you going to do about my complaint?" Again, not looking me in the eye and turning away she said "I will speak to the manager" So I said "and what will she do about my complaint?" Having had experience of the manager before I know full well she also doesn't know how to deal with customer complaints so she will do sweet FA and just fob me off.
Note to the higher management at Lucia: Please train your waiting staff to pick up customers dissatisfaction. This waitress could not read the room, in fact it was a joke how she dealt with the situation. She was your typical Gen Z who does not like any form of negativity (in fact she would have been more comfortable dealing with everything over WhatsApp). Well, she needs to learn that in a restaurant she will get that everyday and she needs to deal with it effectively. Customers over a certain age will not tolerate this level of service.
Your restaurant manager needs to know how to train her staff and deal with complaints. A "have your drink on me" or just an apology would have been nice. She did not even come across to the table to find out what was wrong. I notice there are a lot of comments about your manager on here, so maybe its time she was replaced by someone more experienced.
When customers complaints aren't dealt with in house they resort to posting reviews online. Sorry Lucia but your staff let...
Read moreWe had dinner here on Saturday 11th March.
We had looked forward to it all week and we were child free, we have eaten here on a lunchtime a few times and everything was always excellent.
First of all we had to wait an extra 15 minutes for our table to be ready which is no drama as we were going to be there a while as we wanted to generally take our time and enjoy the evening.
We sat in the bar waiting to be asked what we would like to drink and nothing, 5 min 10 minutes eventually I asked one of the busy waitresses to get our drinks, the drinks didn’t come to where we were in the bar they came to our table 15 minutes later.
We then looked through the menu and decided on the fillet steak and also the rump, my Mrs loves fillet but hardly ever gets it, not down to cost but because not many restaurants get it right the way she likes it even though she can go in to detail.
We also ordered a starter to share and 2 sides.
The came fairly quickly was which was a good result, however the sides were not only small but the roasted carrots with feta had 1 carrot and various bits of veg, and although the mash was nice it was cold, the steaks were also cold however they were cooked to perfection.
We managed to speak to one of the waitresses for a second time and my Wife explained that everything was cold, at this m Point the manager came and took over the situation, she was brilliant, she took the steak away and cooked it a little more and also gave us more veg which this time looked and tasted amazing.
When the bill came the manager had knocked of the sides and also 10% which we never asked or but she said she was happy
Point being, when the manager got involved it was sorted out, however regarding going back I will probably stick to lunchtime and certainly not have the steak
Thank you to the manager other than the food it was a...
Read moreIf you enjoy flavours of the Mediterranean try Lucia’s and you won’t be disappointed! You advance up a small, rather dark passage into a warm and welcoming restaurant with heaps of ambience. The service is very good and nothing is too much trouble. We were not kept waiting and the staff were cheerful, helpful and very efficient. The wine was perfectly ok, water was provided and my wife enjoyed her “Paradise in Yorkshire” cocktail. For starters we recommend the calamari, the pate and the soup of the day. The Mussels for the main course were very good and I can thoroughly recommend the Fillet of Sea Bass. We like the desserts and particularly enjoy the Tiramisu and Nutella cheesecake.
We used our loyalty card which had been previously activated online and got a good discount. Interestingly, we had left our card in the car but there was no need to retrieve it. The manager said it would not be necessary and gave us a new card straight away. A touch of thoughtfulness and consideration that was much appreciated.
Recently we went for coffee and cake after quite a long absence. The refurbishments have made the outside section warmer and more comfortable. This establishment has a relaxing ambience and is comfortable. The service is friendly, accommodating and efficient. We hadn’t booked but were seated quickly and had no wait. The place was buzzing which suggests it remains very popular. There was plenty of choice of different coffees. We had basic Americano which was good and the cups were of a generous size. The price was £2.40 per cup. We tried the toffee, pear and chocolate cake which we certainly can recommend. The nine desserts on offer are priced at £5.25 each. Remember to get a loyalty card which provides a 10% reduction. All in all a very...
