I can't review there food as we just went for drinks. We sat outside on the 21st June 2019 around 1.30pm. My dad went inside to order 2 cold drinks, a coffee and milkshake. He brought them out, to which the coffee and milkshake where in take out cups. We where sat there, and 5 minutes later a member of staff came over and told us to leave, as we had take out cups and we couldn't sit there. To which our arguement was, we bought them inside. She still carried on telling us to leave. The most humiliating thing was that she was so loud, everyone was looking. I started packing up my sons pram to go, having to explain to my autistic daughter that we had to go. (Which she wouldn't have understood) but it didn't matter to your member of staff, my daughter would have had a huge meltdown due to this. Luckily another man came out and explained that it was okay that we sat there, that we bought the cold drinks down stairs. To which she looked and said, "oh sorry" and walked away. I'm so annoyed, to be treat in that way was disgusting. I felt embarrassed. To be spoken to like that is shocking. If she can speak to people like that over a take out cup, I can't imagine how she would speak to someone due to something more "serious"
This was our first time there, we wont be back. By the sounds of it ... (due to your member of staff's humiliating manner) we won't be the only...
Read moreTook my Mum here today for a Mother's Day treat to avoid the crowds on Sunday but was quite disappointed. The portions on the continental platter and hot seafood platter were not as expected compared to platters had pre-covid. Also the sun dried tomatoes were missing off the meat platter but not noticed until afterwards. The most disappointing part of the experience was we were only given 1hr and 15mins at our table. No time limit was given on booking. I had hoped to treat my Mum to lunch, a nice catch up, a cream scone and coffee. There was no way of fitting this into the time frame, especially given waiting times for food and the time it took for plates to be cleared and dessert offered after our main. This was a shame because we've had scones here before and they were wonderful. Although given my home made fishcake had hardly any fish in it and was more like a mashed potato cake, I can't say the quality of the scones would be the same as they used to be either. I understand prices are rising for everything but I would rather pay a bit more to have the same quality as I am used to here. It seemed that quality and quantity has been affected to keep meal...
Read moreWent to Vanessa's for breakfast (party of three) after receiving recommendation. My first impression was of how dark the cafe is. With few lights at all. We waited to be seated after being told to move onto the landing area at the top of the stairs as it was 'a hazard to stand in the cafe area'. That made me laugh...because non of the staff were wearing FACEMASKS something that shocked us all considering the current COVID situation. Maybe they should be as worried about the spread of COVID as they are other safety issues. In fact I asked the waitress why non of the staff wore facemasks. She she didn't know really but thought it was a question of personal choice. (Surprising as ALL of the customers entering the cafe were wearing FACEMASKS). Appalling. I told her that facemasks should be worn by staff and that it was a lack of respect for customers not to wear them. The food was nice. The quality of the sausages was very good. Pity that it was freezing in there and all three of us ate with our coats on. To summarize: nice food, pity about the cold dark room and the lack of FACEMASKS is totally unacceptable. We will not...
