Cafe V — Restaurant in England

Visited this little café whilst in Beverley for a few hours on a Sunday, it was a pretty busy day when we visited as there was a 10k run taking place! Despite that we visited this café to grab some breakfast and we got a seat straight away. The place looked popular as there were people sat inside and outside the premises.

The café looked well presented, clean and a nice selection on the menu. My husband and I both opted for poached eggs on toast, with a choice of white or brown bread. I opted for white bread and you got two slices with two poached eggs plus some lovely lurpak butter. I also had a glass of orange juice and my husband had a latte.

The waitress was friendly who took our order and we were given the option to pay straight away before our food and drinks arrived. We were happy to do so as it meant we could leave as soon as we’d finished.

The food was nice, nothing too fancy as it was just eggs on toast. The drinks were okay too, my husband said he enjoyed his latte. Perhaps it was ever so slightly over priced as you could probably get the same for less at a local Wetherspoons however it’s good to support local independent businesses.

Would recommend and would be nice to try some other options...

We visit reasonably often, usually after an early morning walk but mainly because the team and food are wonderful.

They are somehow able to retain the family business feel. The camaraderie between the team comes across in how they deal with their customers and the casual banter between them is lovely.

A way to describe the service is perhaps "professional family" as that is what comes across.

From breakfast to drop in coffee and a snack, we've never had a meal that we've not enjoyed.

Only once have I dropped my guard in having one of their cakes. It was so wonderful, I daren't even look at the others for the fear of wanting a slice of them all.

Whatever magic the management weaves with their team, their customers...

First visit today, a bit of a mixed experience to be honest! Upon arrival we found a table no problem and awaited table service as advised. After about 20mins of waiting we enquired as to waiting times and our order was taken shortly after. Beautiful coffee with quick service (after order was placed!) however one of our lunch items was wrong.

We do believe that maybe we were here on an off-day as both the drinks and food couldn't be faulted. Staff were lovely and we really appreciated the complimentary drinks to apologise for the minor issues.

100% would return as overall it was a great lunch spot, however couldn't ignore...
