Maa Indian Restaurant — Restaurant in England

We are new to Beverley having recently moved to the area and are exploring the local restaurants. Booking the best Indian on all the reviews sites was an experiment to only see how good it was, but also to see how things were rated in the town against our expectations from elsewhere. I can report it was a delight and a wonderful experience. The service was friendly and at the same time frenetic with every table full on a Saturday night. More importantly there is the third F and this is fun. We were made to feel welcome and even before the food arrived, we knew we had made the right choice. Once we starting eating, from the red pickle to the tandoori mixed grill and south Indian chill lamb we were hooked. Excellent Bombay aloo, an easy dish to get wrong. We'd heard great things about Maa's. We ordered via Just Eat, which gave us a 20 minute delivery window, 19:55-20:15. At 19:40 we got an update, our food was on its way. At 20:20 we got a notification on Just Eat that our food had been delivered, but it hadn't, so my husband called the restaurant. He initially spoke to one person who didn't have an answer as to where our food was so passed the phone to another guy, who again didn't have an answer so put the phone down on us... Rude. We called back and asked again if they could tell us where our food was, and were told "I'll sort it for you". 10 minutes later at 20:35 our food arrive. Unsurprisingly both dishes were barely warm so had to be reheated. The chicken tikka was nice but the chicken biryani was tasteless. Overall a disappointing experience. 1 star...
