Great atmosphere, great staff and they allow dogs. They have gluten free beer on tap, which is great. However, they don’t do gluten free food, the previous reviews are incorrect. The menu says “if you want a gluten free pizza ask us”, I did and they said the gluten free pizza is prepared on a flour surface and placed on the same cooking surface as the regular pizzas. They do fries, but they are cooked in the same oil as the dough balls, so aren’t gluten free. So major toms isn’t a place you can eat if you are gluten free (coeliac), but if you are just gluten reduced, you could possibly be fine. So this is a great bar to come to for drinks or food, if you have no gluten free friends. If you are gluten free, remember to eat first or you will be hungry or sick.

A well established bar/social venue. Lovingly themed in a retro style. It's fairly unpretentious and diverse, as long as you can get up the stairs (I don't think there's a lift). It's also dog friendly. The drinks tend to be a really interesting selection, with a lean to craft and independent breweries. There are non-alcoholic beer options. The food is good, although pretty much limited to pizza or a couple of salads. There are several vegan pizza options. As it's open plan, it can be pretty loud at busy times - difficult to have a quiet conversation.

I had no idea what to expect about Tom's apart that it sold real ale and pizza. Walking upstairs above a charity shop, you can hear the buzz off the music and voices. Tha bar has a great selection of ales and choice of pizzas. The prices aren't cheap but still didn't put me off as this is usually the way. The venue has a great vibe with people of all ages just enjoying a beer and food. They also sell tee shirts with there logos. I would definitely recommend this place to stop off for a great pint and fantastic atmosphere.

It was a dark Sunday night in October, the moon was low and the air was crisp. Emma and I had just come from sea, and so we'd built up quite a hunger. We ventured up the stairs and immediately we were struck by the life preserver stood majestically above the bar, we discussed how this may be a metaphor for us finding this place of solace in a cold and lonely word. We proceeded to the bar, and clasped our eyes upon the menu. After fierce debate we compromised with what they call a 'half and half'. My ship mate ordered the classic chutney were as I ordered the Veggie feast. As soon as I read that it was to be garnished with pine nuts memories came flooding back of the only woman I had ever loved. Her name was Susan, she had a wooden leg and every night when we embraced I would linger to catch the scent of the sweet pine. With a pint of fine ale in hand each, we found ourselves a spot and settled down to a quick game of cards. Hardly had we finished when a fine lad with hair to shame a siren lay before us a pizza of Sicilian standards. With a but a glance we tucked in. Only did I get through one slice before I felt a sense of unease, something was not right. I took a deep breathe in through the nose, where was the sweet scent I had so long missed? Where was...
