From the moment I stepped into Mem Saab, I knew I was in for something special. The warm welcome from the staff immediately set the tone for what turned out to be one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Leicester.

The ambiance is just perfect—elegant yet comfortable, with a refined touch that makes it ideal for both special occasions and casual dining. The service was impeccable; the staff were attentive without being intrusive, always ready with recommendations and ensuring everything was just right.

Now, let’s talk about the food—absolutely outstanding! I started with the Achari Paneer, which was packed with flavor and had the perfect balance of spice and tang. For the main, I went with the Monkfish Moilee, and I have to say, it was one of the best Indian dishes I’ve ever tasted. The fish was cooked to perfection, and the sauce was rich, fragrant, and utterly delicious. My friend had the Lamb Rogan Josh, and the depth of flavor in the dish was simply incredible.

What really stood out to me was the attention to detail in every aspect—from the beautifully presented dishes to the way the staff checked in just the right amount to make sure we were happy. It’s clear that Mem Saab takes pride in what they do, and it shows.

I don’t usually like to leave bad reviews but I kind of have to. So the food was lovely - no complaints about that and the waiters who served our food were all very friendly, the service there was great.

However, towards the end when we were all splitting the bill the service went downhill. In general a service charge/tip should be optional and up to the customer whether they would like to add some on or not. I genuinely give cash rather than on card that way it can be split between all the servers - I know this because I used to be a waitress.

Here they add the service charge for you without asking or even letting you know. My mistake was not reading the bill properly and realised I was charged a service charge after I had paid. I asked nicely if I could have that returned and the lady behind the till kissed her teeth at me and rolled her eyes. She then informed her manager who also seemed annoyed that I was asking for a return - bare in mind that I was going to leave a cash tip. I did get a return but also a cold shoulder just for asking for MY money back that shouldn’t have been taken in the first place.

I have nothing bad to say about the servers as they were lovely, friendly and went above and beyond however, the manager and that lady behind the till need to change their attitude. It’s rude...

Out of this world. After planning a trip to Leicester with the family we noticed this place had a good rating on Google Maps. We booked and travelled down, however, on the way down we got held up and phoned to see if they would hold the table for 10 more mins. The female member of staff was very polite and told us not to worry. After rushing around we noticed as soon as we saw the place it was absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, we had no idea beforehand so we were all underdressed. Raj the manager came over straight away and was very polite to my family, something that goes a long way in making them feel welcome. The atmosphere was something special, the place was immaculate, the food was divine, and the staff were extremely helpful and polite. I forgot my glasses and couldn't read the menu I asked if there was a pathia which they said wasn't on the menu but they would make it special. I was taken aback by how much everyone went out of their way to make our meal and experience so very special. It was my birthday and the family had been through a stressful week with my wife about to go into hospital for an operation the next week. All the staff contributed to our family having a very memorable night. We are extremely thankful and hope to return one day. Thank you for the wonderful food...
