The Last Supperš„ We took a trip to Tamatanga for my leaving do and obviously had to make sure I chose the perfect place for our last meal togetherš«¶š». What I ordered: Homestyle Chicken Curry - I definitely prefer curries that arenāt creamy and after thoroughly analysing the menu, I knew this curry would be bang on. They used chicken thigh pieces rather than breast. The quality of the meat was amazing but I didnāt like the slippery feel of the chicken thigh. Other than that the curry was phenomenal. It was bursting with flavour and I demolished it along with my garlic naan and the rice. Tama Chips - a must-have when you visit Tamatanga. Once you get that first mouthful of flavour, you just canāt stop yourself from eating more and more. The chips are so crispy and even though they are hot, itās a nice and bearable heat that can easily be sorted with a sip of a cold drink. Garlic Naan - smothered with yummy, warm, buttery garlic. Using these to scoop my curry up with was an experience in itself. The combination of flavours was incredible. Poppadum & Chutneys - mini poppadums are too cute. These are the perfect size as well for layering your chutneys on and being able to fit in one mouthfulššš¼the chutneys are so different to anything Iāve tasted before. The mango and the green chutney made for such a good combination. The mango was rich with a bit of a kick and the green chutney was sweet but still had such a deep and solid taste to it. Peachy Blinder & Vandalur Bird - tamatanga cocktails are unlike anything Iāve tried before. I personally think they should do happy hour all night long rather than 5-7pmā¦š Overall: 10/10 āļø Considering our party size and the fact that one person was very late, so we did not order for a while, the staff were just so understandable, polite, and very attentive! The food and drinks were to die for and of such incredible quality. The atmosphere was so warm yet vibrant and also cosy at the same time. I will be visiting again very, very soon!

This is the famous saying that goes by: you can not judge a book by its cover. In a nutshell that's basically it in a simple way. Once you get through to the front door, you are welcomed by this welcoming aroma that gets you into you wanting to eat, honestly hungry the right word. There is waiting area with chairs and tables and welcome Reception. You are welcomed with a smile, whether you have been booked in advance or just plain walking in. Beautiful lighting with enough lights to see where you are sitting and eating. We were guided to our table respectively. Menu are simple, straightforward and drinks are on a different booklet. Vegan friendly to the suited taste. Toilets are at the back upstairs if anyone would wish for the loo. Cordie is the main person serving all three of us, complement goes to her for being very attentive which includes serving our drinks first and food later. Drinks came first and food shortly after. I had lamb briyanis, which I have eaten a lot of places and this place rank first among all. I have seen all servers do their job retrospectively unlike some places they chat nonchalantly. They are very quick to respond to customer need and attentive. They do the work and don't stay on mobile phone. As for quality for food and drink, a 10 out of 10 score. Should I come again, well all I can say I want to come every day, sadly I live too far.

Title: A Vibrant Culinary Experience at Tamatanga: Real Indian Soul Food Tamatanga, an innovative Indian eatery nestled in the city's vibrant dining scene, offers an immersive experience that goes beyond just a meal. It's a place that captures the essence of India's culinary diversity, served with warmth and a dash of contemporary flair. Walking into Tamatanga, you're immediately enveloped by a lively, bustling atmosphere that beautifully mirrors the vibrant street life of India. The decor is a charming mix of rustic and modern touches, with colourful murals and lanterns adding to the playful yet cozy ambience. The food at Tamatanga is a tribute to the rich tapestry of Indian cuisine, with each dish telling a story of the different regions of the country. The menu is a well-curated mix of traditional favourites and innovative creations, all of which are brimming with authentic flavours. What truly sets Tamatanga apart, however, is the hospitality. The staff is attentive, friendly, and eager to help, making you feel at home. They are well-versed with the menu and offer excellent recommendations to enhance your culinary journey. Despite these positives, the restaurant could improve in terms of portion sizes, especially for the price point. Some of the dishes, like the Butter Chicken and Lamb Biryani, felt a bit skimpy, leaving you wanting more. The thalidomide we had was OK and had a could choice but very small portions, and extra naan cost £4.25 for 2 very small naan that are finished in two bites

Lets get the food out of the way first. The food is good, like really tasty food. The decor is fairly good as well. It is the service and attitude that lets this place down. Iāve made two visits to this place. The first visit was in the afternoon - for lunch. The restaurant was nearly empty. We asked for a table by the large glass windows as it was a bright and sunny day. We were refused those as they were apparently reserved only for 4 people or above. We were about to leave, they didnāt try stopping us. We asked to speak to the manager, who came and told us that she was doing us a āfavourā and we could therefore have a table by the window! The food comes in random order, they do state this in the beginning but somehow this doesnāt always work with Indian cuisine. I then asked for some onions and green chillies. The first waitress said yes to it, then another one came and told me that they were an extra 40p! In my opinion, either they shouldnāt charge such a paltry amount at all (and insult the customer by asking if that was ok!) or simply state on the menu and add to the bill. Overall, despite the tasty food, it left a bad taste in the mouth, pardon the pun! The second visit was on a Sat evening, very busy. The maitreād came up to us (my partner - female - and I), simply greeted me and did not even look or address her. Very sexist body language and attitude. We didnāt bother staying.

Absolutely loved it! It's exactly the sort of place High Cross was missing. A reasonably priced, fast serve Indian. But those two things made me think quality may be compromised - it wasn't. We ordered the tamatanga thali and although we didn't like all curries we were both full and satisfied after our meals and know our favourites ready for our next visit. As we visited on their first opening weekend we were advised by a friendly host that there was a short wait for a table but he also advised us on the 2for1 cocktails (12-5) which certainly made than 10mins fly. Food arrived fast after ordering and was obviously fresh, we had to wait a few minutes before tucking into the too hot to touch chilli cheese naan which was certainly worth the additional £1. We spent half the meal planning our next visit. On my recommendation: don't play it safe with a tikka masala as that was one of the less liked curries, there was a neemas curry that in the menu was compared to a korma. Usually I find a korma plain but this was definitely the champion of the curries we tried, very creamy and full of flavour. Also tamatanga chips are a must, but the portion is huge, easily could have been shared by 3/4 and although we loved them they defeated the two of us and we are big eaters.

I went here for the very first time based on recommendations from at least 2 different people. Well what can I say I wasn't disappointed and would also highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting Indian cuisine. I would say this is probably one of the best Indian restaurants in Leicester. The atmosphere and vibes of the restaurant are brilliant as is the modern if somewhat quirky decor. The food is halal. We ordered a chilli garlic chicken curry bowl which comes with either rice or naan. I went for naan which you get 2 pieces. The lamb biryani was exceptional and this was probably my favourite dish. It was loaded with perfectly cooked succulent lamb pieces and came with a yogurt raita. For starters we had Amritsari fish fry. This was amazing. The batter was ever so thin and was crispy. It wasn't even oily! The fish itself was cooked to perfection and was flaking when cut into. The papdi chaat was really good. The combination of flavours and different textures made it a very enjoyable dish. The addition of blueberries was genius! Overall very good experience, great service, exceptional food in a lovely ambient restaurant. The portion sizes were great too.
