I recently visited Amrut Restaurant in Leicester to celebrate my mum’s birthday, and I cannot praise this place enough! From start to finish, it was a truly memorable experience that exceeded all expectations. The staff went above and beyond to make the evening special for my mum’s birthday. They were attentive, friendly, and made sure we felt welcome throughout. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a modern yet cozy vibe that added to the celebration. It’s clear that a lot of thought has gone into creating a space where guests feel at home. The food was absolutely spot on. Every dish was bursting with flavor, perfectly spiced, and beautifully presented. We tried a variety of items from the menu, and everything from the starters to the desserts was exceptional. It’s rare to find a restaurant where every dish impresses, but Amrut managed it effortlessly. My personal favorite was the Paneer which was cooked to perfection. The portions were not overkill and not too little and offered fair value for the quality. What truly stood out was how the staff made my mum’s birthday feel extra special. From a thoughtful birthday gesture to their warm hospitality, it felt like they genuinely cared about making it a memorable evening. It’s those little touches that really make a difference. Amrut Restaurant is a fantastic addition to Leicester’s dining scene. Whether it’s for a special occasion or just a casual meal, this is a place that delivers on all fronts delicious food, great service, and a wonderful atmosphere. Thank you, Amrut Team, for making my mum’s birthday. We’ll definitely be back soon!

I cannot express enough how incredible our dining experience was at Amrut Indian Restaurant today as we celebrated my wife’s birthday with close friends. From start to finish, everything was absolutely flawless, and I’m so grateful we took our friend’s recommendation to visit—it was worth every moment! The ease of making a reservation set the tone for the evening. The staff was courteous and accommodating, ensuring our table was ready upon arrival. When we walked in, we were greeted warmly, and the ambiance was perfect—elegant yet inviting, with just the right atmosphere for a special celebration. What truly stood out was the genuine care and attention we received. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel important, even remembering it was my wife’s birthday and adding little thoughtful touches to mark the occasion. Now, the highlight: the food. Every dish was nothing short of spectacular, rivaling high-end fine dining in both presentation and taste, yet at a surprisingly reasonable price. The flavors were exquisite, with each bite delivering a perfect balance of creativity and tradition. We ordered a variety of dishes, and every single one impressed—from the starters (which had us all raving) to the mains (cooked to perfection) and the decadent desserts that ended the night on a sweet note. I'm already planning our next visit. A heartfelt *thank you* to the entire team for making the evening so memorable. You’ve gained lifelong fans in us, and we can’t wait to return! If you’re looking for a place that delivers on every level—food, service, and vibe—look no further.

A sign of a bad restaurant meal is when you leave it hungry. We arrived to be greeted by a man who asked if I'd been before, (I had previously booked but cancelled due to illness) when he proceeded to get out his phone where he had saved many people's, including my name and number. Creepy, unnecessary and odd. When we ordered I asked if my mains had onion in it, the description had no mention of onion and I have a mild allergy. I was told it did have onion and I should have told them the day before. I don't remember ever having this reaction at any other restaurant but perhaps that's because they were able to tailor the sauce as those restaurants made it fresh when ordered... I then asked if I could have a mains vegetarian dish but as a side plate (basically, half the potion), I was told no by the main waiter/owner, was only given the reason that "it is a main dish". The music in the restaurant was so loud and fast paced that my partner and I had to raise our voices to hear eachother talk. Then, banging started from the back of the restaurant, all making for a chaotic atmosphere. Agent eh food arrived my portion of thin slices of fish was accompanied by a sauce that was basically onion and my poor partner got four chunks of chicken. The palest looking masala we had ever seen. We both ended up leaving hungry, feeling ripped off and overall feeling like the main waiter or owner was not a very accommodating host. I won't be recommending this place and we certainly shall not be returning.

I had booked a table for 4 yesterday (15/6/25) for Fathers Day for 18.00pm. On arrival at reception it took a few minutes for the person to decide which table we would be seated at even though we booked it in advance, the person looked puzzled & after discussing it with another colleague we were eventually seated.

The atmosphere in the place seemed fine, decor was good, table & seating on chairs & sofas was comfortable & good. The servers greeting when we were seated was warm & friendly.

At the time there were only a handful of tables which had customers seated in small groups, once we were seated, no one attended to us to take our drinks or food orders after 10-15 mins and so I had to get the attention of one of the servers to call them over for us to place our order.

I noticed a table nearby to us which had 6 people seated who had arrived after us had already received their drinks & starters before we eventually received our drinks.

Throughout the duration of our evening I had to constantly flag down a server every time we needed to order more drinks or food, the servers attention to customers just was not there. As more people arrived & more tables were taken the level of service got pretty bad.

Once the food arrived on our table, we were asked within a couple of minutes whether everything was fine before we even got the chance to sample the different dishes. The food was good in parts but the portions were a mismatch with the pricing, food was over-priced.

I can give 2 examples of this from the food we ordered, first example was a non-veg platter to share, it had a single small piece of kebab, one chicken piece on the bone & one piece off the bone, single small piece of fish & one lamb chop, priced at almost £16, there is no way you share that, so it was disappointing. When I raised this with one of the servers & checked whether it was correct they provided no explanation.

The second example was a desert which was a gulab jamun with ice cream, it came with once piece gulab jamun & a mini scoop ice cream priced at £7, well over priced.

The level of service to customers & the portion sizes with their costs are a mismatch are the 2 negatives from my experience in my opinion at this restaurant. Both of those areas need reviewing & addressing. Servers need additional adequate training when attending to customers.

As a person who grew up in Leicester until the age of 19 & then spent 25 years working & living in London and who was regularly eating out, having returned back to Leicester at the back end of last year I do think the food dishes at this eatery are over well priced.

Its easy to get customers in first time round but to get customers to re-visit frequently to your place can be a challenge, especially in todays competitive market in order to survive in the long term.

Do you get value for money at this place ? I dont think so. Would I visit this place again soon within 3 months ? No. Would I visit after 6 months ? maybe, unsure.

Hope my detailed review provides you with some feedback to reflect on & address in order for customers to have a better experience in the...

Amrut, located in Leicester, is known for bringing a vibrant and authentic taste of Indian dining with a contemporary twist. Here's a breakdown of what you can expect:

Ambience The restaurant offers a warm, inviting atmosphere that combines traditional Indian decor with a modern, elegant design. The layout is comfortable and well-spaced, with attention to detail that enhances the dining experience. Perfect for both intimate dinners and larger gatherings, Amrut strikes a balance between casual and upscale.

Menu and Cuisine Amrut's menu is impressively diverse, featuring a blend of classic and innovative Indian dishes. Traditional favorites like biryanis, kebabs, and curries are prepared with authenticity, yet the restaurant is also known for adding its own twist. Their focus on regional dishes from different parts of India adds variety and showcases the richness of Indian cuisine. The vegetarian and vegan options are notable, with vibrant, flavorful dishes that are highly praised.

Highlights:

Starters: The street-food-inspired chaats and pakoras are often recommended, offering a spicy, tangy kick that sets the stage for the rest of the meal. Mains: Signature dishes, like their butter chicken, lamb rogan josh, and paneer tikka masala, are frequently lauded for their depth of flavor and tender textures. Desserts: Amrut offers a range of traditional Indian sweets, like gulab jamun and rasmalai, that provide a perfect finish to a rich meal. Service The staff at Amrut is attentive, courteous, and knowledgeable about the menu, often making helpful recommendations based on individual preferences. They maintain a good pace, attentive without being intrusive, which contributes positively to the overall dining experience.

Price Point For the quality and presentation, Amrut offers a reasonably priced menu. While it's slightly higher than a casual Indian restaurant, it aligns well with the fine-dining experience they deliver. Portion sizes are generous, making it good value, especially for group dining.

Overall Impression Amrut stands out in Leicester’s dining scene as an excellent spot for those seeking authentic, high-quality Indian cuisine. With its flavorful dishes, thoughtful presentation, and a focus on creating an immersive experience, it's a top choice for anyone looking to enjoy an elevated...
