We have visited here several times. The pub is steeped in history and a little querky and serves a good range of local beers. There are cozy fires in winter and a reasonable menu along with specials board. The food, pub fare, is usually well cooked and presented with a dish of seasons veg to accompany. The Sunday roast is worth a visit for and priced reasonably. Whilst we have normally found all satisfactory, we did have one experience when the veg was rather cold and a fish pie luke warm in the centre- hence the reservation in the title. However, that was the only disappointment we have experienced. Service has always been willing and friendly and I have little doubt that further return visits...

Friendly landlord, the pub is like TARDIS and extends further than appears from the outside, tries to cater for families as well as the usual pub crowd. Live group and open mic evenings. Small dance floor inside. Cosy fires and the old pub is still retained. Extension on the back and to the bar. Some food available and coffee if asked for. Good bar selection and prices.
