I had just had a long drive to Chatham and decided to go grab a coffee. I went to the toilet first and then went to the till to order my coffee. The servers exact words were ‘you didn’t ask to use the toilet’ I said sorry , I didn’t realise I needed to ask your permission. . She then stated it’s for customers only, which I let her know I’m standing infront of you ordering a coffee as we speak. She said to me you have to ask me first before you use the toilet. Firstly, I didn’t appreciate being spoke to like a child. I regularly use my local muffin break for coffee and never experience this, the staff in my local one are so polite and welcoming. Secondly, how does this server know I don’t have a disability or need for the toilet for personal reasons. On top of this she was just so rude and unwelcoming. I let her know I will no longer be ordering a coffee and made my way to the lovely coffee shop next to sainsburies who by the way serve much nicer coffee and are always polite,...
Read moreService seems to have gone downhill here lately. Lovely friendly staff the food service doesn't come up to the same standard.
They were advertising 'Classic English Breakfast' but couldn't provide several of the ingredients. It was served on a small tea plate which meant piling the food up - making it challenging to eat.The food was lukewarm. The 'toast' was only just toasted. Everything, including the drinks, took over 15 minutes to arrive at our table. We asked for a refund for the buttered 'toast' which was toasted so lightly that it was really 'bread'.
Not the first time we've been disappointed by the level of service and food. We hadn't been there for a while and decided to give it another try.
Sorry, but we won't be going again.
However, I would reiterate that the lady who welcomed us into the place was lovely and all the staff too ( the two stars are for your friendliness), especially when they were apologetic about not having two of the breakfast...
Read moreVisited Muffin Break for a late breakfast around 10.45 - I was doing a day trip to Chatham predominantly to see the most historic dockyard. I found this place when researching on cafes in Chatham. Most of the good ones are based in the Pentagon Shopping Centre, it was just a case of choosing one. They have managed social distancing very well and all the seating is well spaced out - I was able to sit individually and enjoy the breakfast. The Bacon Ciabatta was delicious and made out of Turkey Bacon!! It went well with a Blueberry Muffin and Mocha (a great combination). I felt the Ciabatta was quite pricy (£3.50 for a small portion); nevertheless the atmosphere inside and the cleanliness made was second-to-none. The food kept me going the majority of the day, until the time I left Chatham in...
