Every time I've been to Muffin Break I've been disappointed. I usually buy a panini and a drink. The tuna panini tastes sour and the bread is toasted to the point of being rock hard. The coffee is fairly average, nothing to write home about. Their filled muffins (duffins I believe they're called) I've only had once, the Biscoff flavour, and it was nice, but not mindblowing. I would rate their food as average. Today I asked if they had any pistachio drinks. The girl at the counter (I wish I'd asked her name) was so sweet, she said they dont do pistachio drinks. But she said they had the pistachio cream so she'd be happy to rustle up a pistachio milkshake for me even though its not on the menu. That's what I call service - she went above and beyond for a customer and was willing to think outside the box. What a lovely girl! She made a very pretty shake with whipped cream and a sprinkling of pistachios on top. But here's where the joy stops. It tasted VILE. I mean REALLY VILE. First I thought it was the straw ruining the taste but no, even after drinking directly from the cup, that horrible taste was there. I think the pistachio cream must have gone off a while ago. I'm very old-fashioned and never throw food away but try as I might I couldnt stomach this drink so the entire thing went in the bin. £5.50 in the bin. I felt awful, but I know no one in their right mind would drink that thing. By all means go to Muffin Break for their customer service, esp if you like the food, but please dont order a pistachio drink, esp. not 'to go' (at least if you're there you...
Read moreThe coffee here is actually more than decent, though pricier than other major high street chains such as Café Nero or Costa. A regular cappuccino will set you back £2.90 while a salted caramel latte cost £3.20. To put into perspective, you can get a deliciously hot and thick hot chocolate milano from Café Nero for cheaper than this very expensive latte. Their smoothies only come in one regular size, but are pretty expensive for the amount you're given.
Their selection of baked goods looks appetising, and I tried the feta cheese, spinach and tomato muffin, as well as a so-called "duffin" pictured below. When you look at the duffin, you expect it to be full of chocolate that oozes out as you bite into it. However, looks can be deceiving, as the chocolate is a centimetre deep into the croissant-style dough with the centre dry and devoid of the deep fill one would expect. The feta cheese muffin was dry, crumbly and lacked any sort of moisture, so I was very surprised at the cost. In all, £18 was spent for three people without much to show for it.
All in all, there are better and far cheaper places around, and regular high street coffee shops...
Read moreWent here for first time today for sandwich and coffee. Asked for cheese and tomato baguette. It was served heated which i had not requested. When i challenged this, staff behind the counter said can’t have it un heated . When I asked why not, I was told they are meant to be heated. No sign on counter saying they were sold as heated toasties. After sitting at table I told assistant he could take baguette away . Sarcastic female manageress then came over and implied there was something the matter with me for wanting the baguette cold. She said she was “sorry”in a sarcastic and insincere manner. When i said “ you look sorry “, she said I would offer you a refund but assume you won’t want it”. Very poor handling of a customer simply trying out the shop for first time and spending money in their shop Will not be returning. Suggest female manageress goes on a course to learn how to handle customers properly. I see in the reviews someone else has spotted her unfortunate manner of...
