I've been here twice now, and the first thing you notice is of course the interior. It's very simply done but very tasteful and relaxing, inviting you to sit and share a meal with friends, or bring your laptop and get some work done (there are charging stations in some parts of the cafe). The service is friendly and helpful, never had a problem with the staff. The first time I ordered some wraps, and I wouldnt recommend any of them, as they were fairly mediocre. I'm not a chai drinker so I cant comment on their tea. Their samosa chaat is delicious. The second time, I ordered a vanilla capuccino but they gave me a caramel capuccino instead, which of course was too sweet for my liking. Their chicken tikka wrap was disappointing, But the biggest disappointment was the omelette beans paratha breakfast. It's fairly expensive, and what you get is bland supermarket parathas instead of home-made ones (I had high expectations after having homemade ones at Naashta), a pot of beans which I could tell were from a Heinz can, but with added masala to disguise that fact, and a fairly decent omelette to which they add 30p for every item you add to it, eg 30p for onions, 30p for tomatoes, 30p for chillis and 30p for cheese –– all of which should come as standard in a desi omelette anyway. So far, I can only recommend the samosa chaat as its a good price and tasty too.
UPDATE Having been here (high wycombe branch) a few more times, I've changed the rating from 3 to 4 stars. Their hot donuts are fabulous (I like mine plain but my daughter loves them with pistachio cream) and their Bombay bowls are very filling and tasty. They've recently introduced a chicken biryani bowl, and my feedback is as follows: it's tasty but should come with salad and raita as any decent biryani would. There should also be a choice of boned and boneless, since boned chicken makes a much better biryani. Feedback for the chana bowl: tasty but too spicy and the chana masala is too wet. Additional feedback : if you offered bite sized versions of your desserts for free to customers when they place an order they would be more likely to buy them. We never buy your desserts because we've had bad experiences with other similar places like Naashta, chaiiology etc. But if we got to "try before you buy" we'd have more faith in what...
Read moreDeeply Disappointing Service Experience - July 22nd
I regret to report an extremely negative service experience at your restaurant on the afternoon of July 22nd. While the food was acceptable, the conduct of the waiter assigned to our table was utterly unprofessional and ruined the entire meal.
The server displayed consistently rude and disrespectful behavior throughout our visit. His tone was abrupt and condescending, making us feel unwelcome and like an inconvenience. Specific instances included:
Dismissive Attitude:He sighed heavily and rolled his eyes when we asked simple questions about the menu. Interrupting: He talked over us multiple times while we were ordering or asking for clarification. There was no "please," "thank you," or basic politeness. General Hostility: His overall demeanor was hostile and impatient, creating a very uncomfortable atmosphere. He seemed completely disinterested in providing any level of hospitality.
This was, without question, the worst service experience I have encountered in a restaurant. The server's behavior was completely inappropriate for a customer-facing role. His conduct demonstrated a fundamental lack of training in customer service, basic manners, and professional respect. Management Attention Required: I strongly urge management to address this incident seriously. Such behavior from staff is unacceptable and damages your restaurant's reputation. Training or coaching on customer interaction and basic professionalism is clearly needed for this server.
I hope this feedback is taken...
Read more"I recently placed an order for 2 karak chai, 2 pink tea, and 2 cakes from this establishment. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory.
Firstly, the pink tea that was delivered was disappointingly cold. It lacked the warmth and comforting flavor that I was expecting. It would have been much more enjoyable if it had been served at the appropriate temperature.
Secondly, the Kunafa cake that I received was clearly past its prime. The texture was dry and the taste was stale. It was evident that the cake had been sitting for a while, which was quite disappointing considering the reputation of chaiiwala.
Lastly, the karak coffee cake I ordered was a letdown as well. leaving me unsatisfied.
While I understand they recently opened, I expected better from an experienced franchisee. The quality of the items I received was subpar and did not meet my expectations at all.
I hope that the management takes this feedback seriously and works towards improving the overall quality of their offerings. As a customer, I believe it is important to receive the value and taste that is promised by a well-established Chaii Wala. I hope that my next experience with them will be much...
