I sent this my email and as I’ve not had any kind of reply I’m now posting it here.
I came to the High Wycombe branch on Wednesday with my friends. We were warmly greeted by your friendly staff and ordered rice crackers and drinks while perusing your menu. My friend is a diagnosed celiac and we asked the server if you had a gluten free menu. She informed us that she thought pretty much most of the menu would be an issue as the majority of the food contained gluten. The restaurant manager arrived and informed us that the majority of the dishes all contained gluten, that the cooking oil was also not gluten free and that you don’t have the option to have tamari (usually the gluten free alternative to soy sauce). On your website, one of your statements is ‘Osaka is all about Humanity. We believe food is one of the best tools to create meaningful connections regardless of age, race or gender.’ Clearly this does not apply for those with a gluten allergy. I have to say, that had we not received our drinks and rice crackers, I think at this point we would’ve probably chosen to go elsewhere, I really wish we had done this. The Korean sweet and spicy chicken was delicious as was the salmon hosomaki, however the prawn yaki soba was overcooked and the nitamago egg on the beef yakiniku had a hard yoke. I was very disappointed with the quality and choice of food and was even more disappointed when I received the bill. At over £80 for three people I would expect more. For that price I could’ve had exceptional bento at an authentic Japanese restaurant in Beaconsfield. More importantly my friend wouldn’t have felt like she was being difficult. I hope you might consider maybe adjusting some items, being inclusive is a lovely thing for us all to feel. Never coming back and will not recommend to anyone. Not even acknowledging receipt of this email tells me everything I need to know about this restaurant...
Read moreWe were in High Wycombe, and the girls wanted some Japanese... we found Osaka Japanese restaurant, and going that, it offered a delightful culinary experience for those seeking authentic Japanese cuisine in the heart of Buckinghamshire. With a diverse menu featuring a range of sushi, sashimi, tempura, and more, Osaka aims to bring a taste of Japan to the local community. I
The highlight of our visit to Osaka was undoubtedly the exceptional quality of the food. Each dish was expertly prepared, showcasing fresh ingredients and traditional Japanese flavours. The sushi was particularly outstanding, with the perfect balance of rice and fish in every bite. The sashimi melted in our mouths, highlighting the impeccable freshness of the seafood. The tempura was light and crispy, adding a delightful crunch to the meal. Overall, the food at Osaka exceeded our expectations and left us eager to return for more.
However, our experience at Osaka was marred by a significant issue with the service. Upon arrival, we were seated promptly, but unfortunately, our waitress seemed to overlook our table for an extended period. This resulted in delays in taking our orders and receiving our food. While the quality of the dishes ultimately made up for this lapse in service, the initial neglect was disappointing and detracted from an otherwise enjoyable dining experience.
Despite the service hiccup, Osaka Japanese restaurant in High Wycombe remains a top choice for those craving authentic Japanese cuisine in the area. The food alone is worth the visit, with its exquisite flavours and expert preparation setting it apart from other local eateries. Whether you're a sushi aficionado or simply looking to explore new culinary horizons, Osaka is sure to impress with its delectable offerings. Just be prepared to exercise a bit of patience if the service falls short of...
Read moreThis is my second visit here and my last. On entry we were told that we could only get a seat on the park bench style seats in the centre. I said no thanks and turned to walk out, before my hand reached the door I was told that we could have a proper table with normal chairs. We ordered our food after a lengthy wait with still water. They brought tap water so went back to get bottled water. The table next to us got the wrong food so we waited on ours. My rice came but no prawns, my wife asked for kimchi seafood stew. There was no seafood in the dish and still no sign of my prawns with the rice getting cold. The waitress had no clue what we were on about and we then called the waitress who originally seated us, she said that was the correct meal. My wife stirred the stew and pointed out that there was no seafood. At this point she did get a bit rude in the condescending manner that she spoke to my wife, I then intervened and said cancel all of this and walked out. I have never had to do this in any restaurant in my long lifetime and never thought it would happen here. I never expected this in a Japanese restaurant but this place has no Japanese...
