Incredible Curries and a Thoughtful Finish ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)
From the moment we stepped into Namaste Bengal, we felt genuinely welcome. The gentleman who greeted us was friendly, polite, and gave us plenty of time to settle in and look over the menu — no pressure at all. We eventually chose a bottle of Pinot Grigio Rosé, which was crisp, refreshing, and really enjoyable.
To start, we had poppadoms with a few pickles — yogurt and mint, mango chutney, and a sharp, flavoursome lime pickle. All full of taste and a perfect way to begin the meal.
For mains, we went with the Handi Murgh Korma and Murgh Malai Tikka, served with Jorda Pilau and a Peshawari Naan. We usually lean towards mild, creamy curries — and these were absolutely spot on. The sweetness was gentle and never overpowering, with the spices and coconut flavours coming through beautifully. Honestly, some of the best curries we’ve ever had.
We finished with a strawberry and vanilla ice cream topped with strawberry sauce — just right to round things off. Then came a lovely surprise: we were offered a choice of complimentary after-dinner drinks, and we both went for a shot of Limoncello. A really thoughtful gesture and a perfect end to the evening.
The restaurant was clean, nicely decorated, and had a great atmosphere. It was clear some diners were regulars, chatting comfortably with the staff — always a good sign. The service throughout was excellent, warm, and genuine.
And what really says it all? My wife — who’s usually happy with just one curry night a week — suggested we might go back again this week because she enjoyed it so much. I completely agree.
Highly recommended — a standout spot...
Read moreI regret to say that our recent experience with this Indian takeaway was thoroughly disappointing. While we are always excited to support local businesses, the quality of service and food failed to match our expectations and certainly did not justify the high price tag.
To begin with, we were startled by the disproportionate pricing. One glaring example was the Chicken Pakora that we ordered – it came with only five small pieces of chicken but was priced at £5. It felt as though we were paying premium prices for significantly less than premium servings.
Adding to the frustration was the extensive wait time for our order. We were initially informed of a certain collection time, only to be kept waiting for over 30 minutes beyond the stated time. There was no apology or compensation offered for this delay, leaving us feeling undervalued as customers.
Moreover, there was a lack of communication during our wait. Updates on the status of our order would have gone a long way in mitigating the frustration, but such customer service norms seemed to be overlooked.
Further, we observed one of the staff members communicating quite rudely with incoming customers. Though we were not directly subjected to this, it was distressing to witness and cast a further negative light on our experience.
Given these drawbacks, our visit to this takeaway turned out to be a disappointing experience. We believe that customer service, pricing, and timely delivery are critical elements in any restaurant or takeaway, and hope that the management takes note of these areas for...
Read moreI heard that this place do good foods so we decided to try the places. The order came just above 80pounds and got the confirmation email with collection time given which was 30mins since ordering food. It seemed great as we were all hungry and kids were very hungry. We were there for the given collection time and up to that point I thought its great, very organised and we would get the food and go home and eat.
But we were ended up waiting for another 40mins at the restaurant and they weren't giving any explanation and no apology from them. So after over an hour of waiting for our food in total, we got them and came home.
When we opened our food, I felt disgusted, poor quality of food with small portion for over price. Cold food and some dishes were very bland.
I can understand it was busy but still no excuse to treat customers badly and in rude manners. The reason they have a business because of customers and hope they remember that and they need to improve their customer skills.
If I was told that they were busy and I had to wait for a hr then I could have said yes because I wouldn't say No to good quality food and I could have made planB for my children. But I got none of that.
The evening could have been a lovely family catching up dinner but turned so bad, there will no second...
