I am very disappointed with the service and attitude received from this restaurant. Having previously had enjoyable meals here, I had high expectations when we recently ordered the roast duck and roast pork vermicelli, along with chow mein. Unfortunately, the food was extremely poor on this occasion — so much so that we could not eat it at all.

We telephoned the restaurant to raise our concerns, explaining that the food was very dry, lacking any sauce, and that the seasoning had not been evenly distributed. Some parts of the noodles were excessively salty and spicy, while other parts were stuck together in large, unappetising lumps. The chow mein, in particular, was so dry it felt as though we were chewing rubber.

When we first called, the response we received was dismissive — we were simply told that "it is supposed to be like that" before the call was abruptly ended. We called back a second time to clarify that our intention was not to seek compensation or free food, but simply to provide constructive feedback in the hope that the quality could be improved for future customers. However, even then, no apology was offered, and the staff continued to insist that the food was as it should be.

I have eaten vermicelli and chow mein from numerous restaurants, including this one, and I can say with confidence that what we received was not of the standard we expected. I appreciate that sometimes a different chef may be working, or that there can occasionally be inconsistencies; however, a sincere apology would have been appropriate and would have demonstrated some empathy and regard for customer experience.

Refusing to acknowledge the issue and dismissing a genuine concern says a lot about the attitude towards customer service. A simple apology would have shown professionalism and respect, and it would have gone a long way towards maintaining customer goodwill.

Regrettably, after this experience, I am hesitant to order from this restaurant again, particularly for noodles. I sincerely hope improvements will be made, both in food quality and customer service, for the benefit of...

After arriving as a party of 8 they made us a table and took our drinks order. After bringing the drinks and taking our food order we waited an hour for food that NEVER arrived.

My wife went to speak to a member of staff who dismissed her saying "it's coming, it's coming". She then went and spoke to a (seemingly) more senior member of staff who appologed and said it would be another 10 minutes. To her credit when she went in to the kitchen to (I assume) chase our order she was yelled at by the chef, for the whole restaurant to hear (which added entertainment to an otherwise disappointing evening).

After 10 minutes with no sign of our order our party left the restaurant.

I can't comment on the food but I can comment on the inexperienced staff who seemed to be stressed by a half full restaurant and the lack of apology for wasting our time.

Unless you like sitting in restaurants with no food, angry chefs and stressed teenage waiters I would not recommend this restaurant. The town is full of great pubs, go to...

We booked a table to finish our day out in Pickering. On arrival, we were taken to our seat and asked which drinks we would like. We asked for Tiger bottles, they brought us it in glasses, it was flat. We ordered our food, on arrival of the starter, it was full of salt, that is all we could taste, not only on 1 starter but 2. On arrival of our main, Fillet Steak sizzling dish, the meat was un chewable and fatty, fillet steak should have no fat in it. It tasted dreadful. The sirloin steak we ordered was the same again, not what we ordered. The chicken was Grey! 🤢 We asked to speak to management regarding the poor quality food - the lady was really unprofessional! Shouting abuse, talking in her own language to another member of staff and even threatening to call the police. We agreed to paying half of what we did not eat as the woman was aggressive towards us.
