Avoid at all costs. This was, without question, the most aggressive and unprofessional behaviour we have ever experienced in any restaurant.

We ordered breakfast — cheap, poor-quality sausage meat, greasy hash browns, and raw mushrooms. The food was dreadful. My wife’s cheese and tomato omelette was swimming in oil, packed with harsh, greasy cheddar and raw tomatoes. She declined the tinned peas and frozen carrots for obvious reasons. We politely asked the waitress to remove the tomatoes and thanked her — she and the other staff were genuinely lovely, and we were enjoying chatting and showing them photos of our dogs. At no point did we complain, nor were we off handed, rude or otherwise. We did ask if the vegetables were fresh, but did not mention the breakfast.

As we were leaving , out of nowhere, an enraged manager came storming across the room, screaming at us. She was shaking her fists, spitting as she shouted that “no one has ever complained about the food” and to “leave and write whatever review you want.” She falsely accused us of abusing staff — an absolute lie.

We were stunned. We remained calm, tried to diffuse the situation, and even reassured her that the staff had been wonderful. Her response was to escalate further, hurling more accusations and yelling that we’d called her names — which simply never happened.

It was a frightening, utterly unprovoked outburst — completely disproportionate to anything that occurred. We left after telling her she clearly needed help managing her anger.

We eat out several times a week and have just returned from three months of travel. We have never witnessed such appalling conduct anywhere. The food was cheap and poorly cooked, and the manager’s behaviour was nothing short of disgraceful.

Aggressive management, dreadful food, and a deeply unpleasant atmosphere. Absolutely disgusting experience...

Visited here today for the second time in as many weeks just to get some sausage rolls because they are that good. Last time I had the pork and apple and my hubby had one with black pudding and they were the best sausage rolls ever!! This time we purchased 4 of each and tempting though it was to eat the whole lot we did restrict ourselves to just the one each and took the others home for the freezer. On our first visit we also bought 3 slices of cake, carrot, chocolate and coffee and walnut which were also excellent especially the carrot cake. Both times we had lovely interaction with the staff, if there is a downside here, it's a very very small one, but it's a little bit tight to get in if you have a wheelchair, pram or like me a tri-walker, however I'm pretty sure the staff would try to be accommodating if they can and it certainly doesn't deter us from visiting again....

I give the sausage rolls 4 stars, they are high quality (amazing meat) and really tasty (apart from the apple variety needing more apple, there was just 1 tiny piece) i don't know if this is the norm,or maybe we were just unlucky. The cakes however really let this bakery down. It is easy to get tempted when you see the lovely display in the window, but in actuality they are so dry and tasteless. They remind me of cakes somebody brings into work and everyone eats them to be polite (secretly hoping that person doesn't bake again). We bought a selection from there and even my cake loving toddler didn't like them! I honestly prefer the cakes in Cooplands over the road. Very disappointed and our holiday dessert was ruined. I would return but only for the sausage rolls/savoury pastries and...

Great value for money !!. I parked right outside at 8 am on a Sunday. It was open from 7.30. Nice timing since I left Blackpool over 2 hours before. The breakfast special was big (I can eat too)----- 2 bacon, 2 sausages, 2 eggs! 2 Hash Browns, Grilled Tomato, Baked beans, 2 Toast with butter and Marmalade, Pot of Tea or Coffee -----. I got 3 cups of tea from the pot and water pot. The cutlery was clean. The cafe was spacious and airy with marble top tables. Staff were friendly. Plenty of condiments. Saved this as a 'favourite' on sat nav.

Ordered a chicken burger that was basically a birds eye chicken fillet in a teacake (bread bun) with a dollop of mayonnaise. The menu stated the burger came with salad, it didn't and I had to ask for it. The "salad" then came in a cup and consisted of a bit of lettuce and a slice of tomato. Photo of cup of salad posted. For £3.80 I expected a little more than a "Birds Eye" southern fried chicken fillet and a terrible cup of lettuce that I had to ask for. The only saving grace was the orange juice. Avoid if you like chicken.

Five stars because it is exactly what you want a little Independant cafe and bakers to be. A large selection of fresh pastries, pies and cakes. Friendly service, good waiting staff, bustling with local people, understanding to upset babies, reasonable prices and of course lovely comfort food. They serve a pot of tea automatically with a spare pot of boiling water - this is the sign of true Northern class. Nice to see these places doing well.
