It's odd when you visit a Restaurant with so many positive reviews but after your visit you put the food in the bottom of your restaurant experiences. The starters were ok, the best bit of the meal intact. I found the chicken tikka on the stater platter to be tasteless and watery, the marinade didn't stick to the chicken it looked like it was just dipped in the marinade prior to cooking. The Sheek kebab was fab, samosa great, chicken Pakora (not the correct spelling from their menu but same thing) wasnt the best at all. For the mains we ordered, Chicken Rogan, Lamb Curry, Chicken Pathia, Chicken Tikka Massala. All were well below par. The chicken in all curries was just odd, dry, crumbly and tasteless, never had chicken that texture anywhere never mind Indian restaurants. The tikka chicken tasteless, and again the texture was wrong. All the curries were tasteless, over tomatoe-ey runny affairs, really - some the worst I have had. I had to apologise to my 3 children for bringing them here for a holiday meal. Chips were fine, naan bread was ok, keema naan was below par. Pilau rice too much fancy spices that wasn't needed and wet, mushroom rice was soggy, Cobra draught lager was great. If you are in the Misty Ricardo, Al's Kitchen, or the Curry Guy's club - steer clear peeps, we can achieve far greater cooking at home. We did feedback to the waitress that it wasn't great but nothing happened, I didn't want to push a complaint through. I wasn't in the mood. It leaves me thinking this might have been a one off when you read all the reviews or the locals and holiday makers who leave reviews just aren't used to a proper curry. The staff were very pleasant and did a great job. We had to chase a missing starter and missing naan bread I think the kitchen was the...
Read moreImpulsive decision to dine after an afternoon of wandering the town. Proved to be one of the best decisions of the holiday - fresh food, expertly cooked and served with minimal and appropriate waiting time. The service was friendly, efficient and thoroughly charming. The food was very good - the Garlic Chicken Chilli a noteworthy & surprising burst of delightful flavours, almost Mandarin in its notes of 5 spice & star anise. Definitely worth a return visit for that alone. Prawn Sizzle was happily prawny, the traditional dhansak flavoursome and the chapati & naans good. Tables are utilitarian, wooden & bare as I guess is expected of a high street walk-in. But walk in...
