I recently had the misfortune of visiting "Nando's" yesterday evening at 7PM and let me tell you, it was an experience I won't soon forget – though I wish I could after how many drinks I had and the rude customer service I received.
Upon entering, I was greeted by the unmistakable aroma of body odour and despair of cooking. The decor was a charming mix of sticky tables and lights that can give you a headache and a cozy living vibe to the place a cozy uncomfortable vibe. I decided to brave it and ordered the which promised a mountain of crispy chicken and golden fries.
After what felt like an eternity (or maybe just 20 minutes), my food finally arrived. The chicken looked like it had been burned and charcoal grilled to death in the fires of Mount Doom. The skin was so rubbery and greasy and fatty I could have used it to lubricate a car engine. One bite and I was transported to a world of regret what a waste of money. The chicken inside was as dry as the Sahara Desert, and I found myself chewing endlessly, hoping to find some semblance of moisture. Spoiler alert: there was none!
The chips were another story. They were cold as snow luke warm luke cold you have been warned, and had the texture of soggy cardboard. I suspect they had been fried sometime last week and left to marinate in their own sadness of saw dust not very peri peri then is it?
The only seasoning they had seen was the salt from my tears.
To wash down this culinary catastrophe, I ordered a soda a bottomless soda. It arrived flat and warm out of the machine, a fitting end to this tragic meal. I left Nando's with a heavy heart and an even heavier stomach, vowing never to return.
In conclusion, if you're looking for a place to ruin your evening out with friends or family or stereotypical loud and noisy teenagers and kids alike.
And question your life choices while you look around you! Nando's located inside the town of Wokingham is the spot for you. One star, because zero wasn't an option.
Thanks Nando's! Thanks Google! For nothing but a 1...

I arrived as part of a group of 11 on a slow rainy Thursday lunchtime. The restaurant was very quiet which suited us since we only had an hour for lunch. We quickly placed our orders as other people arrived. Slowly our food arrived but there were lots of mistakes with the orders - many meals were sent back. We also noticed our meals were delivered in a random order but that also other tables and people who had arrived after us were also being served quicker than us.
Finally everyone on our table had their food except for 2 of us . We spoke to the manager but were still left waiting. After 45 minutes of waiting most of our group had finished and other people who arrived after us had also left.
Finally after another complaint our food arrived which felt extremely awkward as most of out table had to sit and watch 2 of us try to hurriedly eat our food. Not a great experience that took nearly 90 minutes and not especially cheap either.
Such a disappointment.
I definitely wouldn't recommend Nando's to anyone and strongly suggest there are plenty of other great places to eat in Wokingham as a lunchtime...
Read moreVery impressed with Nandos in Wokingham. It was so easy, we went around 6.15 on a Thursday and it was fairly quiet. We scanned the QR code at the door and waited to be shown in. You are taken to a table and it is all table service. You scan a second QR code on the table which is the menu which you order and pay from. This goes straight to the kitchen. A waiter frequently visited us to make sure we were ok and had everything we needed too. We were sitting in sectioned off tables and it felt very safe. Everything was brought direct to our table, cutlery, sauces and of course drinks and food. If you gave eaten in Nandos you pretty much know what to expect and the simple menu has good easy options. I like the chicken wings, I would say if you like a little spice, be brave and opt for hot I have found the medium not very hot at all. The sweet potato wedges are good too and of course peri peri chips. The garden salad is a simple side but adds a little refreshment. All in all never really disappointed...
