My friends and I decided to have lunch here (Weds 11th) and they did enjoy theirs but I can not say I enjoyed mine that is why I gave 3 stars. I opted for a main meal as there was not a great deal to choose from on the sandwich/wrap menu that I could eat? I ordered the Steak and Ale pie with chips and peas, The pie crust was quite thick and hard to cut into and at first the meat was very dry on my first mouthful it was a little better on the inside but I could tell this piece of pie was not freshly made as stated in the menu as the sides of the pie were dry and the meat was like concrete and so I couldn't finish my meal. I did complain to the young man who served our table, he said he was sorry I did not enjoy my food and he would pass on my comments to the chef. I didn't receive no apology from the manager or offer of refund so I left disappointed and it was certainly not worth the £14.95 I paid for it even my friends agreed and if I do pay that price for a meal I expect it to be something I enjoyed and would want to have again? But on this occasion I really was not happy. I will say though that we thought the young male bar staff were very polite and friendly and we left them a tip.
As for the Chef? The only tip I have for him/her is don't serve customers food that is not fresh...
Read moreA Great Set up! - I rang to book a table for two, to have late afternoon drinks with a friend. I was offered a 1hr 45min slot at 4pm which I accepted. The process was polite and efficient. Tables were clearly labelled with reservation name cards & times of bookings (mostly arriving after 6pm). All orders were table service in line with national COVID restrictions of the day. Staff were great, neat, polite & the forecourt area/terrace was smart. It was set out with only alternate tables given chairs, to facilitate best social distancing. I noticed that all tables that are 'in use' are near to or under a quartz halogen heat lamp which staff switch on for guests.... in our case it was kindly done for us, there was no need to ask. The area is weather protected by an expensive-looking sliding roof above. It also has classy-looking partial tile & glass balustrade walls to front & sides with artificial greenery. All in all i found it to be about as good as a pub outside area gets in this phase of the COVID-19 road to recovery. Comfy, dry shielded from the elements & well serviced. Nice coffee, good beer & the neighbouring table's cocktails...
Read moreNot been for a while so booked a table for 4 on Friday and were seated straight away. The staff weren't particularly overly friendly and I don't like the process of having to place your food order at the bar, it makes it feel like a pub. I had the creamy chicken pasta which was £15 but i can honestly say I have had better from the takeaway further up the street. The sauce was more like a soup as it was watery so did not coat anything, the chicken tasted like the pre-cooked chicken pieces that were made from preformed chicken. It was also not very hot. My husband had the Fajitas and said they were luke warm plus for £15 there wasn't much there, only 3 very small wraps. My parents both had the Lasagne and said that was nice. Its a strange place really as you have people sat eating food but then its more of a bar so there are people stood nearby drinking with their backside at you face height when you are trying to eat. I dont think we will rush back as the food quality was poor and the portion sizes...
