Number Thirteen — Restaurant in England

Enjoyed it the first time we visited - had a nice hot chocolate but second time around was disappointing. Yes the service is good and staff friendly but I the food and drink wasn't. I ordered an orange and almond 'cake'. It turned out it wasn't really a proper cake but seemed to be made mostly of soggy, moistened almonds not actual flour, eggs etc. And the the 'cream' on my hot chocolate was more like a watery froth. I hate leaving a negative review, especially as it somebody's own small local business and livelihood but all I will say is not everyone is into vegan, low-carbs alternative type things even if that's fashionable at the moment. These are the exception not the norm so if the cake had been labelled as such I would have known and not bought it. At £3 a slice I could have just as easily gone to Costa and had a proper cake. Lots of gluten free and vegan options! I had a gluten free vegan chocolate orange oat bar, which was delicious. There was also gluten free vegan chocolate cake, gf vegan ginger slice, gf cookies, gf florentines, gf vegan coffee slice. So much choice! They also had vegan toastie options and a lovely carrot, coconut, and cumin soup which my friend had with soughdour and vegan butter. Highly recommend for those with dietary requirements.
