O'Connell's — Restaurant in England

Had lunch here yesterday. Really friendly and helpful staff behind the bar. Food was good value and was nice, not the best I've ever had but certainly better than most and something I'd be happy to have again. The chips in particular were really nice and taste even better than they look.

The only downside for me and this is mostly a one off but their was no atmosphere. This is partially due to it being a lunchtime but it was also because their was some drilling work going on in the gents toilets and the noise was a bit intrusive and off-putting whilst I was eating. As I say, a one off I'm sure but was annoying enough to be mentioned.

Overall good place though and I wouldn't let the atmosphere issues put me off...

After taking ill in the toilets, near closing time where I couldn't walk,the manager told me in no uncertain terms that I had to get up and get out even though I was on the floor and waiting for an ambulance, he was shouting and abusive saying he would call the police to come get me out as I was trespassing,even though I was in there all evening. When this didn't work he told me he was going to lock me in the pub. At this point fearing for my safety I rang the police myself who came and waited with me whilst I waited for an ambulance. The man was still shouting even when the police and paramedics where there. I really wouldn't visit this bar as he is just a bully who likes to try intimidate ill...

Our new go to place for food and drink on a match day! Used to always go to Lloyds but now it’s closed we needed a new venue! It’s always busy on a match day so need to get down quite early but usually manage to get a table now!

Food is always spot on, proper pub grub which always does the trick! The chips are amazing from there, proper home style and plenty of usual favourites to choose from!

Drinks are pretty much the usual price for these days but the staff always seem to be quite nice and happy to serve! Can’t really speak about other days than match day but seems to be a good atmosphere and I’ve heard the dinners on Sunday are meant to be...
