Oliveta Harrogate — Restaurant in England

We visited here one Saturday evening after the seeing the positive reviews and it certainly lived up to the hype! The welcome was friendly as soon as we arrived and we were seated at a table in the front of the dining area. It’s nice that the tables aren’t too cramped together and the table itself was spacious enough for a couple. The service of drinks was really fast, and remained so when getting refills throughout the meal which was fantastic.

The menu is a good size and has a nice mix of traditional Mediterranean dishes as well as some more recognisable options. The stuffed pepper with beef starter was sizeable and really tasty. The king prawn starter had a very good chilli kick, although the white wine sauce seemed more tomato to me, and an extra ciabatta slice would have been welcome, but was also very delicious.

The main Greek gyros dish was again sizeable with succulent meat, and the traditional tave kosi was impressive, with the lamb tender as promised. Service time was quick, presentation great and the two courses filling. We still decided to sample the tiramisu though and it rounded everything off perfectly with more decent presentation.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Oliveta, our first time dining there. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere from the second you walk in and the staff were all really lovely, all bringing personality to the service. This complemented the delicious food perfectly.

We shared the Calamari and King Prawns to start. Both were superb, the sauce with the prawns was phenomenal with the chilli bringing a touch of warmth to it. We were undecided whether or not the Oliveta platter would be sufficient to share as a main but chose to go for it as we figured we could have a dessert as well....

We couldn't have a dessert as the platter was so good and of such a size that we just couldn't manage any more, so we'll have to try the Baklava next time now! Everything on the platter was gorgeous; the gyros was exceptional and the lamb beautifully cooked to order.

In summary, we can't wait to go back again. The food is all freshly cooked from scratch, and it shows. This is no fast food joint, and they quite rightly take pride in what they serve. Thank you all for a really lovely evening and we look forward to seeing you for...

Visted Oliveta again, but for Sunday lunch with family friends visting from the Netherlands and had another amazing meal. Kole was as usual very helpfull and when one of the boys felt ill, ( having traveled over by ferry through the night ) Kole let him lay down on one of the back benches for a rest and I looked up a few mins later and to see his wife Bukarh covering him with a blanket to make him more comforable, if thats not carring for your customers I don't know what is! We had a wide range from the amazing authentic Mediterainean Menu ( 3 adults and 2 x 7yrs olds) mixed shared starters and main meals a bottle of wine, coffees and 2 liquers all very reasonably prices.
