Original Gianni's — Restaurant in England

This evening we arrived in the area after spending the whole day traveling from Kent. We found this restaurant 1st and asked on the off chance if they could accommodate 5 hungry people expecting to get laughed out the restaurant for not booking on a Saturday night. We are so please they could and in hind sight surprised. We were greeted by friendly staff and shown to a table without feeling like they were doing us a favour (which they were). Our meals were fantastic! Not one of us had any complaints. With a picky 10yr old who ate everything on his plate, that's a real compliment. When it was time for dessert Franco was trying to persuade me to order his tiramisu. This is a dessert that I cannot eat because of my weird texture issue thing that I have, still Franco tried to spoon feed me his dessert made which was made by his fair hands. Sadly I could not partake so my son took one for the team and thought it was amazing (he would never usually try something like this). As a result 2 tiramisus were ordered and thoroughly enjoyed. I went yesterday, for a meal with my partner and daughter at 5pm. As it’s re opened, always been my favourite restrante till today. I ordered seafood pasta but I can only eat prawns so I asked for it to be just prawn because the old pasta was beautiful tiger prawns. I was told that they only had small prawns so I’d be charged a extra £6 the meal came out freezing we weren’t offered any black pepper or Parmesan till our meal was finished. The prawns were foul, my partner ordered meatball pasta, It described in the menu that they were homemade meatballs, I’ve had a better smart price readymeal, they literally looked like squashed up Mince and tasted like sweaty feet in hienz tomato soup.. and my Daughter who is 2 couldn’t even eat the Bolognese.. and the pizza looked like a frozen pizza.

Popped into Gianni’s last night as a last minute plan , had no reservation but hoped we would be lucky . Staff were fabulous, the restaurant was busy but we were seated in no time . The staff were friendly and attentive . First time I’ve been in years and can honestly say the food was spot on. Great choice on the menu and the specials board had a wonderful selection . We opted to try the specials , surf ‘n’ turf and the seabass . Both were absolutely beautiful and would absolutely recommend. We had a starter of garlic mushrooms and a garlic bread but asked for them to come at the same time as the mains. Nothing was a problem , everything arrived perfect . Too full for desert but hoping to try those on our next visit ! The staff were really helpful and friendly and the restaurant has a lovely traditional Italian atmosphere .
