The Old Bakehouse — Restaurant in England

The classic main meals were perfectly prepared, well priced and delicious! and because the chef was on the premises they were able to answer ingredients-questions more broadly than just the 14 key allergens. The portions we had were very generous... (possibly, as it was late afternoon, they gave us extra knowing there would be no customers after us). Open 9-4 seven days, the Old Bakehouse is tucked away through one of the old carriage-arches off the main street. This made its outdoor seating quiet, sunny and free from passing traffic. We plan to return to check out more of the menu either for a breakfast (served to 11.30) or main (varying daily, the pies or salmon Wellington looked so tempting). Or maybe a lighter panini to save room for apple pie/ scone/ trifle or lemon meringue pie! They made me happy by stocking decaff tea & the team were alert friendly and attentive. A perfect experience all round, wrapped up by crossing the lane for a zen moment in the community garden opposite. They are a CASH ONLY business with ATMs...

Oh this beautiful café is a real find, tucked away of the main drag, in a cute side street that goes on towards the Stepping Stones across the Wansbeck.

We were given a really warm welcome and had our suitcases as we'd just arrived from Birmingham and our apartment wasn't ready. They were really lovely and accommodating.

OMLETTES are on the menu !!!!💕🙏🏻💕🙏🏻💕🙏🏻💕🙏🏻💕 🥚 🪺 And they serve them all day !!! Mine was a double cheese and mushroom omlette and it was delicious.

The Man had the Steak Pie and omg that isn't a pie, it's sensational - the meat is plentiful, melt in the mouth and the gravy is delicious, this is home cooked food like your grandma used to make, it's REAL, traditional food and tastes really good because it's high quality food!

We had a trifle and a cheesecake for dessert, both were gorgeous and what we really loved, they were not full of sugar, like modern desserts are, these were just right.

If you're sick of slick modern try-to-hard cafes, come here for some real soul, warm hearted banter and decent...

AVOID this place, First time i called in for a cuppa and food a week ago and only posting it now as I partner already did but feel the need to let people know again as I wouldn't want others experiencing this.. I asked before 3 to waitress any chance I can have a takeout and she said yes so I assumed I had time to order it but then after 3 was told food is off now, why wasn't I told this before? then after an awkward moment waitress spoke to the kitchen and they agreed to plate up mince and dumplings but as I was leaving they said sprinkle water on it and put in oven for few mins, so I took the food home opened it and realised the dumpling was just the mixture and rolled into a dumpling but not cooked was all sticky dumpling mix!! this is shocking for paying £13.50 these high stars from people are probably from staff there and there...
