What an amazing find! I recently had an hour to use up in Morpeth and spotted the pretty signage leading to The Sober Garden. As I walked in, the lady behind the counter and the chef greeted me warmly. I immediately felt comfortable and I loved the decor- my photos don't do it justice but it gave me such a dopamine hit. The menu is predominantly Greek which is a favourite of mine but I couldn't resist the Salmon Mousse (£10)- sourdough toast topped with a smoked salmon and cream cheese mousse, avocado and poached eggs. As the establishment name suggests, there is no alcohol on the menu- not that I wanted any- and the Dragon Fruit & Mango Cooler (£3.50) was calling my name. Aside from the regular menu, there was an extensive specials board behind the counter. My food arrived and I actually said "wow" out loud (as did the bloke at another table who ordered the same thing). It was so beautifully and thoughtfully presented- this is a definitely a place that loves bright, happy colours all over. It tasted incredible. I'm not a great lover of avocado but it was perfectly balanced with the smokiness of the salmon- and the "pop" on those eggs 😍 My Cooler was gorgeous too- the dragonfruit juice subtley reducing the over-sweetness of the mango. There was a steady stream of people in and out, everyone having the same warm, genuine greeting I had. It really did feel so warm and inviting. I'm rarely in Morpeth but this place would draw me back on a day off alone. Everything about it was fantastic and I've not had nicer food in ages! I couldn't recommend it more :-)

We had a lovely lunch at Sober in the Garden today. My mum had the Prosciutto & mozerella open sandwich at £9.50 which was very well presented and she said tasted lovely bread was nicely toasted. I had the Halloumi tacos at £11.95 I think they were. Again lovely, they came with a delicious homemade Tzatziki which was the best I have had outside of Greece. My only slightly picky downfall was that the man who served us was a bit too relaxed. He was on his phone when we arrived however he came off straight away. But my mum didn’t feel overly welcome as an older person. So maybe put the phone away before you get to a customer facing area. Not meaning that to sound rude. Just maybe a suggestion. For the size of the portions we thought it was a bit pricey in comparison to other places for lunch, so it might be a once every now and again place for me. Not a regular weekly lunch thing. Again we couldn’t fault the presentation or the flavour of the food. Maybe it’s better for a younger crowd. I enjoyed it and the quirky decor. Mum wasn’t so sure on the decor. Mum also found the menu a bit limiting because pretty much everything on it was over £9 We did see the board which had scones & cakes and things on which seemed more on par with the local area. For our total meal Sandwich Tacos Coffee Diet Coke it was £27 Again that’s not me being funny im just helping others who might be visiting the area. I would definitely be back. Mum maybe not.

Wow this place really stands out. 5 of us went in this morning for a late breakfast and we were all very impressed. These people care about providing a lovely friendly service, and super high quality , fresh and tasty food. There’s real pride in what they do. I very rarely take photographs of my food but I had to, it was so well presented and it tasted even better( I got the avocado and truffle mushrooms with poached eggs on toast and it was delicious) so many places get it wrong , they just don’t put the effort in, but this place gets it very right. Our breakfast was so good we went back again later on after doing some shopping, for coffee and cake and it was also amazing, we all agreed. The staff and owners were friendly the service was great and efficient, thank you, you made our day out in Morpeth really lovely ! We will be back !
