If the shops are shut and you need some warm food, PLP is the place in poynton, located centrally on park lane, the eatery is always busy over the friday/saturday nights and the pizza, is pretty good for a quick takeaway style place, really nice pizza verry fairly priced, value for money I'd take this over a dominoes everyday, the Chips Doner Meat and other assorted kebabs, chicken dippers and other menu items are what youd expect, tasty food that's not good for you, but your proberbally drunk or starving and dont care. You cant fault it, it is what it is, and it is nice. The wait on food is not too long, the staff are nice and friendly, the restraunt isnt exactly in the best condition inside and out, but your not sitting in for food so arguably doesnt matter, you also have a clear view of the kitchen as they prepare the food through a window inside the shop, and everything looks tidy, clean and stored well.
There is sort of parking behind, although I'm not sure weather or not you are allowed to park there, might be for the flats, but no one has complained so far I think its safe to assume that's fine if your not long, you could also pull up outside the shop but parking on park lane always feels awkward and unwanted, your proberbally going to be on foot or getting a delivery though so I wouldnt worry about that either.
It's open late, the foods cheap, tastey and filling. BUT and this is where I'm really annoyed, there is NO excuse in 2019 to have a minimum card spend, there is a hand full of reasons to have a £5 minimum spend on card and none of them are for the benefit of the client, yes the transactions on card are charged by the bank, honestly crank up your prices 5p to cover it dont make me buy another tay of chips and a drink just so I can buy my dinner meat! It's frustrating, private shops and eaterys do this alot, it's for monetary gain, or to force you to spend more or pay with cash, which is then easy to not declare. It was normal a decade ago, its aggravating now.
Other than that which is annoying the place is nice, and its reassuring to know if your out in poynton and you need food, you can get it there for cheap and not have to wait long. I'll keep going back, but I'll be happier to do so when the minimum spend is...
Read morei’m only writing this review because i genuinely want to see PLP succeed and love the people who work there. First impressions… i feel like poynton is flourishing with so many new and vibrant businesses that the shop front lets the street down :( i feel like you guys need a new sign or decoration on the front to make it stand out because it’s not as obvious as it could be on the road next to the cask and the chinese.. the tree obscures it so i feel like brighter lights or signs could help do this. It’s a pizza kebab house so i get why the inside is minimal and that’s ok to be honest. Moving onto the food. I only ordered a pizza but honestly it sparked a debate on my tiktok.. should the cheese be on top of the pepperoni? personally for me i like the pepperoni on top. I’m confused because 98% of the pizza placess i eat from put the cheese on prior to the additional toppings but anyway… so the cheese totally eclipsed any toppings and my pepperoni wasn’t cooked.. I like mine with a bit of grill so its more flavourful and instead i just got full slices of pepperoni that wouldn’t break up when i went to take a bite. The pizza was slightly undercooked by a margin so i can’t fault the dough etc but combined with the pepperoni it was too much under-done-ness. The other critism i would like to make.. the sauces. PLEASE use proper sauces. The mayo and ketchup weren’t brand and you can’ tell instantly. it gives the food a weird smell. All i could smell was vinegar and the sweetness of the ketchup and honestly it smelt like human puke… i’m not even being nasty when i say this but it’s just tiny little details like that that make the food go from a 3 tto a 9. I threw the chips away :( i’m not a fussy eater by any stretch but i really hope this review helps you guys and i would love to return...
Read moreFirst time we have tried PLP. We got a menu through the post so thought we'd give it a try. Menu said it delivered for orders over £15, turns out it doesn't. Ordered online and went to collect, turns out the online order doesn't come through to the shop. On reordering again we got a terrible meal. We actually laughed. There was none of the promised salad on my burger and it looked like it was 3 days old, the chips were under cooked with 0 seasoning. The stuffed crust pizza only 10% of the crust filled with cheese in it. Ive never seen my husband not finish food before. I've had better burgers from a van at 3am. Sorry but we won't be eating here again- it did give us a chuckle though- hope we don't regret this...
