The Giggling Squid is less than 5 minutes walk from the Central car park which is free after 6pm so there is no problem with parking. The restaurant is long and thin with a large number of tables some of which are rather close together for a nice romantic dinner. I also find the hard back chairs uncomfortable which reduces the number of good tables. Our order for drinks was taken quickly and it arrived not long after but I found the wine overpriced with a 250ml glass of red wine being from £6.95 to £10.75 which to me is excessive considering that is probably what the restaurant is paying for the bottle. We had to wait about 15 mins to order our food which seemed a bit excessive as the restaurant wasnt crowded. Once ordered our starters took about 15mins to arrive. We shared a Salt and pepper squid which was excellent wit a lovely light batter and juicy, tender squid. To go with this we had the Moo Ping pork skewers which again were excellent with a lovely tamarind sauce. I thought 3 rather than 4 skewers was a bit on the small size considering the dish was £6.95 and the squid portion could also have been larger for £7.50. For my main I had the chicken Massaman and jasmine rice. There was plenty of soft and tender chicken in the dish but I felt the sauce was a bit on the thin side and lacked taste - although I could taste the 5 spice - it definitely needed more heat and taste for my tastebuds. The overall bill was about £67 which for 2 starters and 2 mains with 2 glasses of wine was I thought expensive especially as the portions were not huge. If the price and the portion size were improved as well as more flavour in the curry it could have been outstanding as both starters impressed on taste but both mains disappointed.

I tried the Giggling Squid on my last night in Salisbury. As a solo traveler I sat at a small table in the front by the street window. The atmosphere was lively but not too noisy. Just people enjoying a good meal together. My server was very friendly and attentive. I started with the Salt & Pepper Squid (I was in a Giggling one so had to try it). Very nice. Cooked perfect and the sauce was a nice compliment. For my main I had the Crying Beef. Nice sizzling steak on a hotplate with just enough extras on it to make it look amazing. It tasted great too. It had one chili mark by its name on the menu but the only heat I found was the few chili in the sauce - so tasty but not hot. I had the sticky rice with it... not sure if that was the best choice but it worked for me. Not a cheap meal but a nice and tasty one. Will go back to one again if ever near one. The only negative for this Salisbury restaurant was the unfortunate location... Right outside is a street corner area with park-like benches and some drunks/homeless have made it sort of their place. I walked this area every day after work for the week I was there and there was always someone there. They didn't bother me and I did not bother them but I did see the police stop and have a long conversation with one guy while eating my meal. Not sure what about. Don't let this stop you from going and trying this restaurant. Just pointing it out that might be there there.

Delicious, wonderful dinner. Highly recommended to Thai lovers and those new to Thai food alike. The big things: The Beef dumpling starter is exquisite. Pillow soft dumplings in silky, thin wrappers sat in a gorgeous soy based sauce. Don't even think about it, just get them. They come in 4 per portion. The Beef panang curry does not disappoint. Rich, not too sweet, soft meat and crunchy veg. Pair it with sticky rice, or with the stir fried noodles with beansprouts for a lovely way to enjoy the fragrant yet unctuous sauce. The little things: Staff are wonderful and attentive. The Kwai Thai pale ale is a fantastic beer and a good pairing with the chillis. They serve Thai and Asian spirits, which are a delightful way to finish a meal instead of a sugary dessert. Covid restrictions are clearly being taken seriously without intruding. Lots of cleaning, face masks for all the staff and spacing on tables using book collections rather than the gaudy tape and laminated A4 paper signs you see in other restaurants. Highly recommend, search this place out if you want a meal that you will be thinking about for a long time after leaving

Dear valued reader,

I recently had the pleasure of dining at a restaurant where the service and food were simply outstanding. One particular staff member, Rio, went above and beyond to ensure that my dining experience was exceptional.

Rio was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and was able to provide great recommendations based on my personal preferences. She was also attentive throughout the meal, making sure that my dining companions and I were always comfortable and well taken care of.

But it wasn't just the service that made this restaurant stand out - the food was truly magnificent. The Thai-infused flavours were expertly balanced, and each dish was bursting with a unique and delicious combination of spices and herbs.

One dish that really stood out was the Pad Thai, which was perfectly cooked with just the right amount of sweetness and tanginess. The green curry was another standout dish - the sauce was rich and creamy, with a perfect level of spiciness that added just the right amount of heat without overwhelming the palate. Actually, truth be told, if you are not used to spicy hot stuff, you may sweat a bit, but it's so worth it.

Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. The exceptional service from Rio and the amazing Thai-infused flavours make this restaurant a must-try. I can't wait to go back and try more...
