I've had the pleasure of dining at one of the best Pizza Express restaurants in the UK, and it's easy to see why it holds such a title. Every visit to this establishment is a delightful experience from start to finish.

Review mainly about takeaway but first . . . turned up on a Thursday night to try and get a table for four, unsurprisingly no chance unless booked, so went for takeaway instead. On arrival there was a couple in front of us that were turned away by one member of staff, then few minutes later another couple arrived also without a booking, they were greeted by a different member of staff but a table was found for them. I queried this in case the person we spoke to was mistaken about a table being available for us but he just said that the other person shouldn't have done that. The takeaway: A little slow in preparation but not a big issue. When we got home, a main item was missing (chicken caesar salad). I rang the restaurant that had seemed to have already realised their mistake and offered refund that would take a week to process by head office. The pizza we also ordered was very good (hence 2 not 1 star), but the sides of halloumi bites (processed and not nice) and dough balls (only 3 that had been cut in half!!) were poor value for money. With all the other great local restaurants in town I would recommend trying these instead, we learnt our lesson in a moment of...

Lovely location and food was nice but service was extremely slow. We were sat at 12:20pm (had the cinema booked for 2pm so thought we had plenty of time) and there were only a couple of other parties in the restaurant. We ordered some starters (olives and dough balls) and these took over 30min to be brought out. There was an apology given for the delay, but no explanation. By this time the restaurant was filling up and our main courses (lasagna, padana pizza and pollo pesto pasta), so nothing unusual, took another 30min to be brought out. We had to actually ask where our food was and noticed a couple of other tables doing the same. No apology given for the delay this time. It seemed that some tables around us who arrived far later than us were receiving their food far quicker, hopefully nothing to do with the fact we mentioned we were going to pay with Tesco clubcard vouchers! Even though we said the lasagnas were for our children, they were so hot having come straight out of the oven that were had to wait a while for them to cool. We finally managed to pay the bill at 1:50pm so ended up being late for the cinema. Not up to Pizza Express' usual standard...
