Poacher's Inn, Bollington — Restaurant in England

We've eaten at this pub three times previously (last time was in early Autumn 2024) after a nice local walk and we've always had great food and good, prompt service. This time, we were disappointed to see that the menu had changed, with fewer options for the 3 out of 5 of us who are vegetarian. The 2 starters that were ordered arrived in a decent timescale but there was there an excessive delay before the mains arrived - about an hour between starters and mains. There was clearly a problem in the kitchen. No tables received mains from the kitchen for ages and though the staff were full of excuses for the tables that were more vocal in their complaints, we received no explanation. When we finally asked at the bar, we were told our meals were being plated. They weren't - the barman confused us with another table. Had we known that our meals were not actually being plated at that time we would have cancelled our order and left. When we asked again, the meals (which were fine, though not as good as we've eaten there previously) were finally served. At this point, we'd been in the pub for nearly 2 hours and had 3 tired children, so there was no way we were ordering puddings! This has to be the most depressing pub in Bollington. Dirty carpets, sticky tables, staff that look like they can't be bothered. Beer choice isn't great, food is confused. Is it a pub is it a restaurant? Wish we'd just gone elsewhere, my friend said we may aswell stay as we'd got a drink. Food was slow and bog standard at best, lad behind the bar didn't seem bothered when I complained. Made loads of excuses that its a new menu and they short staffed! Beer was ok, not my usual choice, but drink able. Not sure why staff look so miserable and don't care, but the whole pub gives off a bad environment. Think this place needs a total revamp the food looks poor and just generally poor bar staff need a good tidying up look like a load of drop outs not all but most and dis-interested in what they do also no prices of beer which should be displayed I believe legally after being ripped off for a £10 at Xmas overall good local.pub which has gone down hill and really needs a good clean up the outside area used to be great with barbeques and nicely done too and again it's delapatated and scruffy needs some attention whether you like this honest comment or not it's truthful and lots are disappointed who I know and been the village a long time sort your self.out orypu will be...
