On a blustery summers day in in Morpeth me and my partner stumbled across this little hidden gem. Starved by a long walk around the river bank we craved a hearty Sunday lunch. Our attention grabbed by the board “3 course Sunday lunch for £8.95”, we climbed the stairs to reveal and elegant but cosy restaurant setting, greeted almost immediately by a staff member with a smile, further welcome by other staff as we were shown our seat. Expecting to be limited by the low price we were shown the special menu, to our surprise it offers multiple choices within the deal. It all sounds to good to be true but it’s not, it’s a real find. The food was prompt, pipping hot and in abundance, an indulgence but so worth it. Trust me, won’t get a better choice in this area.

Took a trip to morpeth and came across this restaurant highly rate by Google maps and it was amazing. The service was fantastic, lovely selection of food and specials. It is upstairs so can be a problem for some but definitely worth a visit. We got the special starter scallops with black pudding, bacon and pea puree with a salad on the side😍 was amazing. We also tried the pate to start with great size portion s as you can see from our photos. We then got the arriabata and cajun beef strips pasta with a pizza garlic bread. Everything we tried was amazing and all the staff are lovely, would definately go back and recommend a visit if you are near by, we didn't even have to book which was great.

I booked a table here for my partners birthday I told them this over the phone and asked for a birthday cake or something for him told them I would pay extra for this. We arrived a bit early when we got to the desk they said that was perfectly ok didn't ask for a name and sitted us. Ordered drinks which came to the table quickly then ordered the 3 course Sunday lunch one beef one lamb. We had the pototo skins for starters which didn't have to wait long for and thoroughly enjoyed them. The vegetables for the mains turned up first and then we waited until a waiter asked have we had the pototo skins yet? We said we had and we were waiting for the meat and potatoes to arrive. Finally the lamb arrived and given to the wrong person who started to eat it as you couldn't tell it was lamb as there was more gravy on the cold plate than anything else. Still waiting for the beef for a good few minutes also served on a cold plate with tonnes of gravy. The lamb was tasteless with plenty of grisel. The cabbage still was attached to the stork and all the veg was cold by the time we started eating. A waitress came to take the plates away and asked if everything was ok I told no and gave her all the above reasons she apologized we said it wasn't her fault. I don't know if she passed the complaint on to the manager/ owner but he was too busy dancing up and down the aisle acting as if he was hosting a hen party not what you want when you're having Sunday lunch. We then had coffees which was served luke warm and then when the milk was added even colder. My partner wanted to leave but I was trying to keep him talking waiting for his birthday cake/ whatever they do on someone's birthday to arrive but nothing did so I paid the bill and left never to go back again. The only reason I've given them one star was because the potato...

Sunday lunch deal is great and tasty. Loved the food, the place is incredibly family-friendly, clean and cozy and the staff is very nice as well. Would give 5stars...but. . . . I have worked as a waitress myself and in no place in the world would I correct a customer even if they said the name of the dish wrong thousand times over. But that's not even the point, given that the restaurant is in "Italian style" and I was actually using the correct (italian) pronunciation of the dish.

What baffled me the most is being asked if I am waiting to get my change back. This is something completely unacceptable - it depends on the customers whether they decide to tip the service or not and how much. "Are you waiting to get your change back?" equals "Aren't you willing to tip us the difference of what you were charged and what you paid?" I believe this is not based on a cultural difference - the process of paying is: getting a bill-paying it-getting your change back-tipping (unless you pay directly to the waiter and agree on a tip sum in person). And trust me, if not asked, I would have been happy to tip more, especially with the great prices they have for a sunday lunch for 9.90!

Lastly, being called señorita and señora all the time (which is in SPANISH and is not the same thing) was a laugh at first but a repeated use is just...meh. (Grazie and Gracias - also not the same language).

Overall I really liked the place and would recommend.👍

P.S. Americano is normally not an instant coffee ☕, just call it what it is, it is still a...

Having visited this restaurant a couple of times before I anticipated a positive visit. On a busy Saturday in Morpeth visited for lunch with our two and a half year old son. As we went into the restaurant my boyfriend who was a few minutes in front of myself with our son, told me the waitress with long dark hair had said our son couldn’t sit on a chair and needed a high chair. As she approached with the high chair I told her he wouldn’t fit in a high chair, he is 2 and a half and therefore wouldn’t fit. We were met with ‘so you don’t need it?’ Before she walked away put it back without us responding and came back with some menus. She started to walk over to the tables and I asked if we could sit in one of the booths to the side. This would be better for our son in terms of reaching the table.

She then looked at me and said ‘he can sit there as long as he doesn’t go jumping on the seats or climbing’. Shocked at her attitude towards a customer I looked at her as my toddler who was standing quietly wanting a seat held my hand. We then left, I only wish I had asked to speak to the manager, instead we left leading to us having to find someone else to eat and as I sure you can imagine a frustrated toddler who had been excited to have some pizza.

I cannot fathom how someone would act this way towards customers and make such comments as if it was a privilege to be there.

We won’t be visiting again, I suggest the waitress has some training on...
