Such a bad experience with this restaurant. A group of us came to Hambrook for the weekend and decided to order some Italian food for delivery. The order was placed at 7 PM and we got it just after 10 PM. In this three hour period we called the restaurant a few times to ask how much longer it would take for us to get what we paid for. The person who answered the phone told us that it would take 4 and 40 minutes?! We asked which was it, 4 minutes or 40 minutes? At that point he hung up on us. We tried calling again but the call wouldn't go through, he unhooked the landline so we couldn't reach them. We decided to drive there to see what was happening, and that was when the delivery driver finally called me to say that he was on his way with our order. He got lost and we had to drive to where he was to collect the food (already paid for + delivery charge). Drove back to the rest of our group and realized that all of our orders were wrong, items were missing, it was cold and the taste was just not there. Tried calling yet again, landline was out of order, the delivery driver did not answer his phone. It was so disappointing. They could have told us on the phone that they weren't equipped to deal with such a big order, we would have understood and ordered something else. But to just play cat and mouse with us for 3 hours, not giving us a straight answer is just plain rude and...
Read moreI'm really sorry to do this but having visited this eve 14/02/2020, I can say it is probably one of the most unsatisfactory restaurant experiences we as a family of 3 have had. We arrived at approx 7.45pm and were seated quickly. Drinks and food orders were taken within 15 mins and the starters arrived approx 20 mins later the caprese's were half a ball of mozzarella with a small amount of pesto on a bed of rocket and some halved cherry tomatoes. An hour and twenty minutes later our main courses arrived after my wife queried the delay. The pizza wasn't that big and my son complained it was soggy but tasted ok. My linguine vongole had well cooked pasta and the muscles in the shells were lovely but the rest of the sea foodw obviously from frozen. The squid was like rubber and the prawns were hard and tasteless. This was served in a sauce which tasted like tinned tomatoe with a small amount of milk in it. Very little seasoning, there was nothing on the table and I had to use a knife and fork to eat it! My wife had risotto with salmon. The fish was over cooked and dry, the herbs were dried and the risotto was stodgy and seemed like it had been previously made and microwaved. There was a shortage of staff and this meant that the service was non existent and this along with the large delay with the food meant that various people just got up and left. It's not somewhere I will...
Read moreI was suitably impressed as this was my first visit to this highstreet restaurant. We did choose a quiet time to visit, 6.30pm on a Saturday.. we were the only couple in there, but a large family came in and gave the place a but more character. We chose our found and had a drink, the starters were very well prepared, presented and tasted great. The Mains also were cooked to perfection and being bass fillets aren't the easiest thing to get right. The sauce mine was served in was superb, real complimented the veg and fish alike. We didn't have a dessert. I did order a pizza as well to take away, give a review on all aspects of what this place can offer. All was excellent and to have the attention of the chef too, really showed commitment to his customers, full marks for that. The only reason for four stars on service, was due to being left a little longer than usual for the payment. However, I did a 10% tip, which was earned and we appreciated an enjoyable visit, which we...
