La Passione — Restaurant in England

Went here last Thursday with family for lunch, we had a reservation for 1.30pm. When asked if we were ready to order my wife asked if we could have 5 more minutes. That was met with a look of utter disdain and checking of wall clock and watch, it must have been putting them out as there was only well over an hour of lunch service left. The food was of an average standard with a few dishes being very good. I had a pasta dish with shell on king prawns, when I went to shell the prawns they basicly crumbled to mush. I have never had prawns like that in my life, the amount of time they would have to be over cooked for to go like that beggars belief. When the waiter came round and asked if everything was ok I started to tell him about the prawns and his response was to turn around and walk away before I was a third of the way through my sentence. Rarely have I encounter rudeness like it. Maybe he felt a bit rushed with the whole 3 other tables they had in at the time. If you don't want to open at lunch then don't open, what you don't do is treat customers spending £100 like they are a nuisance. We will definitely NOT be going back and I would urge everybody else to avoid...

This was the worst night out I've had for a long time. We had a small party of 7 we had sit at the back of the restaurant in the naughty corner right by the door leading to the outside which was open and staff was constantly in and out making us go hot and cold. The food came as you can see from the photo there was barely any meat in at all. The pasta was really salty. When I complained instead of handling it politely, he just stood up straight squared his shoulders in an aggressive stance, and very Rudely argued with me that there was meat in there (he had already disposed off the plate) so I showed him the photo and he just waved his hands shooing us away the same way you would tell your dog to go away! None of us enjoyed our meals. There is a lovely Italian in downend and as a local Hackney driver I've heard many outstanding things about the one in hanham. Hopefully this review is of help and you consider trying elsewhere so you don't end up with a ruined night and have to grab a kebab on the way home...

I am happy to have found an excellent Italian restaurant not far from where I live after I did some research with one of the highest ratings. We had scallops which was noticeably fresh, garlic bread very light and not doughy, rib eye steak came with fresh vegetables and very nice chips with generous amount of peppercorn sauce for £2 My children had pasta which they enjoyed but almost couldn’t finish it all due to the good size portion! I would give full marks for the quality, presentation, lovley atmosphere and service . I notice this restaurant didnt have a service charge so a tip was added. I lm hoping to revisit soon to try...
