Rising Sun — Restaurant in England

Love the pub and the staff . But really not impressed with the food. Tried the Sunday lunch and the normal size meal came squashed onto a really small plate. Yorkshire puddings were home made and nice. The following week we had a mixed grill and it wasn't worth the money we paid. I can't understand how a kitchen runs out of tomatoes ( grilled to accompany the meal) when Tesco superstore is a few steps across the road! The pub is a good size and is really clean, and has a great range of drinks. The young guy on the bar takes pride in making the bar look good and is eager to please.

REVIEW EDIT Tried the Sunday lunch again last weekend and ordered the large . It came on a much better plate and was absolutely delicious. To be fair, the barmaid did offer to put a regular Sunday lunch on a bigger plate if that's what we wanted. We went home absolutely stuffed. Going again this Sunday . Hoping the new menu is as nice as it looks on the pictures...

As the family gatherd to celebrate our grandaughter christerning little to my knowledge till after the day the landlord was a bit of bully to our daughter most of the day my son in law whitness this too why on earth let a paying guess book certain area/room then complain they are using them is beyond me and been accused of having confettiie all over then also telling my daughter to clean up which had nothing to do with us due to a few children under 5 getting over excited and perhaps dropped a wrapper to think this place came recommend on the ground we could have a bouncy castle on cite we paid for everything on the understanding so long as we leave the place how we find it great we can do that the only recommendation is dont do it dont book it unless you have a thing for intimidating...

Decent Sunday dinner take out, just make sure you order in plenty of time! I was made to feel guilty about spending over £48 on dinner, like I was taking food out of the local customers' mouths! Not the kind of lecture you want when you've spent decent money on 2 consecutive weekends! His attitude baffled me! Like I said though, the food is very reasonable, with nice size portions. Update: Not wanting to take anything away from the pub, as it's an extremely well run, local pub, something of a dying breed these days, and it hasn't put me off returning in the future.
