River Spice — Restaurant in England

Utter joke, they give a long delivery window, up to 70 minutes... 80minutes and we chased - no idea of the order, the excuse was a busy restaurant and (despite knowing nothing of the order apparently) "are bagging it now and waiting for the driver".. right... and a busy restaurant is relevant when you're taking delivery orders??

Damned expensive, 2 portions of bargees cost £10 and you get... 3 bargees... starters were microwaved clearly after having been dieing in the window for ages, mains stone cold, tandoor mixed grill soggy in an inch of water and we were an inconvenience.

If you can't handle it and are offended by customers spending £100 reasonably expecting food in less than the 95minutes it took then CLOSE THE DELIVERY SERVICE.

Have been long standing customers at every venue, it's become a joke now the restaurant is open and I can't advise you avoid them enough... or order at lunch time for dinner and ring them 2 hours before you want to eat to remind them - oh and have the oven on to heat it up.

Was a lovely evening with 10 of us - all of us were looked after by the main boss, Mr Mijan.

Being a South Asian myself and knowing what goes on in an Indian restaurant, I know a good curry, so some of the curries were slightly watered down/tasteless with the gravy sauce that Indian restaurants make during prep, more of a tomato taste, but nonetheless was good enough as we were all starving - Do go for the House Specials or the Jalfrezis is your feeling a bit spicy! The Tarka Daal could’ve been better if they added more garlic/onions to it and brought it to a simmer. The Curry Portion sizes were decent, especially for the Biryanis, as they had more chicken/lamb than rice lol!

Overall, good experience, decent enough prices, great atmosphere,...

This was my first time at River Spice. They do seem to have it all and are setting a very high standard. I had a Chicken Special Roshoni Hawaii. This is a truly excellent dish with layers of complex spicing. I also had a Peshwari naan which was hot, plump and gorgeous. This is a fairly new restaurant which is well worth a visit. If had one less than positive comment it would be about the chicken tikka starter. I feel bad mentioning it really. The chicken was of good quality and beautifully cooked. For my taste, a bit more spicing would make it excellent.

Well done guys. You are doing an excellent job producing great food at a reasonable price delivered with very agreeable service.
