To say I was excited about this booking is an understatement. I wanted to celebrate our 4 years anniversary, Somewhere special and romantic. (Its been a rough couple of years- as it has been for most of us) I spent a long time looking for something to stand out. I finally came across this place. Reviews- looked good a couple of questionable reviews. But, being in the industry myself, I have good a good understanding of the difficulty this trade has been facing. Pictures looked amazing. I am super excited. But with the pictures and reviews. You build a picture as to what you expect...

We arrive and make our way to the bar. To be met with a lack of warmth, "do you have a booking" It was as if we had inconvenienced the conversation the two ladies where having behind the bar. We we pointed to a table squeezed in beside larger tables. Not a welcoming site. We picked a table with more space and a little more intimate. Being sat in among large tables would not have been comfortable and I would have liked to enjoy listening and conversing with my partner. As we sat- no where to hang a coat. We were finally greeted with dirty menus attached to a clip board. Now this may be the "in" thing but not something I would expect to recieve in a "fine dining" venue. We then waited an unnecessary amount of time to be offered a drink. But the two ladies behind the bar would to have had to stop gossiping to provide a service in an efficient time frame. Customer care or journey is clearly not this venues top priority. Or is it that our faces dont fit?

We finally recieve our drinks and placed our food order. Whilst we are waiting for our starters to arrive. We witness a waitress taking food to the wrong table. A mistake that I dont expect to see in this kind of venue... any way... We then observe a wine cooler being filled with hot water from the coffee machine and malt vinegar being added so they can polish cutlery. A practice I havent seen since I was a teenager. (Lemon juice does the same job with less allergen issues!)

The starters arrive. The Ox cheek starter was beautiful. The flavour, the colour. It was lovely. The crab bisque however was full of colour. But over powered by fennel. It was not pleasant. But to add to it, check back was failed. So the dish that was rancid had to sit in front of me until the waitress decided to make an appearance, I.e. once my partner had finished eating.

The mains came out. Both dishes were well served. The flavour for both dishes were amazing. We were finally able to enjoy a small portion of the evening.

We sat waiting, again a long period of time for our plates to be cleared. It was far more interesting for the waitress to watch the drama happening down the street.

Wanting to finish the evening on a high, we gambled and ordered desserts. My partner ordering a cheese board. I took a gamble and ordered the passionfruit brulee.

I am not sure what I recieved, but a creme brulee was not it. The flavour of the imposturous brulee was so bitter is was inedible. There were also a lot of other items on the dish, which didn't help the flavour. Bits of burnt sugar, passionfruit and mango mixture, mango sorbet. Just ingredients to cover an inadequate creme brulee.

To make matters worse, whilst enduring this rollercoaster of a restaurant, we also have to put up with the fact that's its cold. I am sat in a dress and boots. I have quickly had to wrap my cape around me whilst trying to eat, as it is that cold. Now I know why there is no where to hang your coat. You need to wear it whilst you are there. But with the price of the menu, why can't they afford to put the heating on?

With the desserts being what it was, we had had enough; we paid the bill, inclusive of the 12.5% gratuity and left.

Disappointed. Deflated. Confused as to what we had just experienced...

We did a redo at local pub on Sunday 15th. Believe it or not, it superseded our expectations massively. The food was outstanding. I wish we had gone there on Friday instead...

Too judgemental, poor service and low...

Not the best review, we chose this place based on the reviews and website, it sells itself very well but unfortunately we must have come on an off day. Upon entering everything was great, we got seated quickly and the atmosphere looked perfect. We were sat upstairs next to two other couples and everyone seemed happy. At no point was Natashas law followed, this is a legal requirement as far as I am aware and we were not asked if we had any allergies or intolerances. The service was slow. We watched the table on the left try to get attention from the staff many times and then make the comments "guess not then" while the table on the right kept running out of patients and leaving to get staff attention. We were not offered water and had to ask, the table wasn't fully set when we were seated, we had to borrow seasoning from the next table as after 10 minutes of receiving the food and asking for seasoning it hadn't arrived and the other table went through the same situation so they shared with us. At no point were we asked if everything was ok with our food, we had 3/4 different staff come to our table rather than one so it seemed there was lack of organisation and even after desert they said shall I take your plates... no opportunity for, is there a reason your plates aren't empty/was there an issue. For us personally this was a poor experience and for a bill of £170 including tip that is expected.. we will not be returning. We're glad the other couples were having the same experience because our nerves would have probably ran short otherwise.. very poor first impressions but as mentioned at the star, we...

We’re locals to Bradford on Avon and have been waiting for a nice occasion to try the bunch of grapes as we have heard good things from some friends who lived here a few years ago. In summary we left feeling very disappointed in the experience and not sure we would go again which is a shame. We visited on Saturday 18th of November and managed to get a last minute reservation. On reception we were greeted by very friendly staff behind the bar. Service was very quick and efficient. I ordered the burger off the bar menu and my partner the venison which he has had his eye on as a passerby for a long time. Unfortunately I found my burger to be cold and dry and the bun to be very tough, the fries whilst tasty were also cold. We were asked when collecting our plates how it was and mentioned this to the waitress who said she would let the chef know. I’m uncertain if this was the reason we were not approached again but after waiting for some time we approached the bar to pay our bill. We were fairly disappointed that we were asked to pay full price for what was a fairly disappointing meal for me and for this reason are not likely to return. This is a shame as we do regularly eat out at locals spots including: Spanish, Italian and another pub. It is worth noting my partners meal which was the venison, he found to be very nice, but struggled to enjoy this as mine was a real let down and unfortunately the service didn’t make...

This is the best roast dinner I’ve ever had. 10/10. I think of myself as a hobbyist roast dinner connoisseur. I’ve eaten a lot of them. Last year I thought I’d found the best roast I’d ever eaten, and then the place closed down. Heartbroken. Then my partner suggested we go to Bradford on Avon for a Sunday walk and pop into The Bunch of Grapes for a roast. What a shout. Service and atmosphere in there were fantastic. Staff were really friendly and helpful. I opted for the chicken breast roast, my partner and friend both opted for the veggie pithivier. Both were delicious and the chicken was really flavourful and succulent. The roast potatoes were out of this world - super crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The braised red cabbage was incredible, nice and sweet. The cauliflower cheese was big enough for the three of us to share and was the kind of savoury moreish that can get you in trouble. The Yorkshire pudding was huge. Even the side of veg was excellent. To top it all off it came with a good helping of the nectar of the gods - the best gravy I’ve ever encountered. I rate this so highly because not only did the roast come with a little jug of extra gravy but there was absolutely no qualms about asking for extra! Worth a visit if you’re even remotely local.

Fantastic Sunday lunch. Came with the Mr, in a rare Sunday off together, and had a fantastic experience. Staff are quick, pleasant and know their stuff. They also don't hover about, as they do in some other establishments. Wasn't going to have a starter, but went for the celeriac dish - celeriac, cheese truffle... Glad I chose it now. The Mr went for the mackerel which looked amazing. For mains we both had the veggie Sunday lunch, a pativier filled with mushrooms and other things, that escape me. Roast potatoes were next level. Crunchy and soft... Could have eaten just a bowl of those!! Came with veg and gravy both of which we tucked into as well. Wasn't going to have dessert, but went for the chocolate offering. The Mr had the crème brulee. Both were outstanding. My chocolate dish came with a Horlicks meringue... Heavenly. It was rich, consisting of chocolate ganache and ice cream, but somehow never felt like too much. Finished off with a coffee - and a hazelnut espresso martini for his lordship. Overall the experience was too notch. It's very dog friendly - and there were plenty in today. All very well behaved and adorable. If you're about the area, and they have room for you, go and enjoy great food in a cosy setting. You won't regret it.
