I was invited to join friends for a birthday breakfast here in April..Gave my vehicle details to the staff member who entered them into the system. A month later I got a parking ticket. As instructed by the staff member on the day I went back to discuss this( who said there had been about 40 cars that week with problems )I sent the owner a message with the details of the fine, and photos of the ticket. Poul replied that it had all been taken care of and apologised for the hassle. 6 weeks later I received a letter from a Debt Collection agency notifying me of a £170 fine and the threat of court action. It seems Poul had NOT contacted the parking company and sorted out my ticket despite assuring me he had (this was verified by the parking company verbally in a phone conversation). A very expensive breakfast, and I see I am not the only person to have these problems. I will not be back.
Further to your response below;I messaged you on the 18th of June and sent you repeat photographs of the original tickets, and a photo of the debt agency letter- you did not reply. My partner also contacted you directly to discuss getting this resolved -with no success .As much as I do not like using social media, 3 attempts to get this rectified had NO result at all. I am writing here to warn other potential patrons of the costs they may end up facing .I have paid the fine. I consider this...
Read moreFollowing on from the owners reply to my review. There was nobody sitting anywher near me and when asked to turn off phone which was only just loud enough for me to hear I was happy to comply. I made a mistake in saying my laptop was plugged in. It was only my mobile which was being charged at the powersockets next to the table. They generally take about 3 watts of power. Again, I readily unplugged it when asked to by the man accusing me of "stealing electricity". He disappeared but came back when he saw my review accurately saying what had just transpired and asked me to leave. Which again I readily did; not wanting to stay in an environment with someone like that. I sat away from the cafe at empty picnic tables on a nearby golf course in the sun. Which is what tourists do when on holiday. About five minutes later the same character comes out and asks me to leave here claiming he also owns the golf course. The whole affair was reminiscent of scenes from...

My wife and I attended with my father and godmother and her husband. They had ordered when we arrived with our baby. I went up and ordered a large veggie breakfast and two drinks.
When food came my wife went to get cutlery and asked for another plate politely to which we were rudely by the owner told he was not happy about us sharing, it is against policy (no signs up about this) and no extra plate given.
My godmother who has been going over 20 years tried to resolve everything politely after as we were both so upset and he was rude to her.
On exit he, the owner, apparently came to try to apologise for upseting us tried to justify his words and actions and was incredibly sarcastic and i explained he had ruined the entire meal and it was uncalled for.
I shall not ever be going back and would advise others not too if you want a nice enjoyable meal. Plenty of better cafes in Brighton that are welcoming...
