Let's start the review with the last line. A hidden gem, that more people need to know about, the Michelin guide is missing an amazing restaurant here. Incredible food, wines that are unique and professional and friendly service from the small team, make this a complete joy. If you have not been, please give it a try, the express menu at £25 for three courses we can guarantee will be the best £25 you have ever spent. Next time go for the a la carte, as we did, and like us I am sure you will be back.

From the moment you enter this quaint grade II listed building, the journey begins, with a warm welcome from the front-of-house manager.

We opted for the a la carte menu and had the Grilled Pork Belly for the starter, BBQ Lamb loin and lamb neck tagine for the main, followed by the chocolate fondant for dessert.

The Grilled Pork belly for the starter, presented as a lollipop was melt-in-the-mouth flavours and the food was taken to the next level with the glaze, peanuts and salad.

Then onto the main and the Lamb, and this was a tale of two halves from the beautifully cooked Lamb loin to the intense lamb neck this was a pure treat for the taste buds. The best lamb we have ever tasted.

Then finally the dessert, a light chocolate fondant enhanced with cherries was a lovely way to end the meal. This was not a rich dish, it was perfectly balanced by the cherries and the three ways they were presented.

The menu offers several options from the amazingly priced express set £25 three-course menu to the wonderous a la carte menu or the Sunday lunch.

Having eaten at Ronnie's previously we had high expectations and were not disappointed. We went for the 18th Birthday menu. Having viewed it prior to our booking I rang to ask for (I hope relatively minor) adjustments due to one very strong dislike and one serious allergy. Richard, who took the call assured me that this was no problem and suitable alternatives would be provided. Without going into infinitessimal detail it is sufficient to say the entire experience was superb. The food was presented beautifully and demonstrated Ron's skill in combining flavours and textures in every dish. We were delighted with one of our favourite dishes, the wild mushroom risotto and the cannon of lamb was stunning, perfectly pink and delicious. To spoil us further we were treated to the only bread and butter pudding my wife will eat and a second wonderful dessert of a lemon tart. Throughout the meal Richard demonstrated his knowledge of pairing just the right wine with each dish. The service was courteous, friendly and just the right balance of personal without being intrusive and being able to chat with Ron after the meal was wonderful. I have waxed lyrical but feel that I still haven't done justice to a fantastic evening that I hope to repeat in the not...

Wow, what a beautiful gem tucked away in the heart of Thornbury!

The moment you walk through the door you feel the warm hug of welcome from Richard, with his knowledge of drink, the food he is serving, and his attention to detail to your hospitality experience, makes you apreciate how special this restaurant is.

The tables are set out with plenty of space to enjoy the company you are keeping, the decor is stunning and table decorations beautiful.

This is not like eating in just any restaurant, this is an experience. Be prepared to learn about what you put in your body, and enjoy..

Each course is beautiully arranged, the flavours are cleverly thought out and compliment the drinks (if you have a wine flight) Richard explains each dish and paired drink in detail.

The timing of each course adds to the relaxed atmosphere.

Each dish was stunning, delicate plates packed with flavour, beautifully presented and I felt guilty eating them, they were that pretty.

Thank you so much to Ronnie, Richard and all the team who created a lovely evening and fine dining experience. We are so lucky to have this right on our doorstep.

I cann't wait to try one of Ronnie's famous Sunday Roasts...be...

Tucked away in Thornbury, Ronnie’s isn’t just a neighbourhood favourite—it’s a destination in its own right. From the moment our family stepped through the door, Richard’s relaxed but razor‑sharp front‑of‑house stewardship set the tone: warm smiles, quick wit, and the effortless sense that everything will run like clockwork. We opted for the Trust Menu for our family gathering of 9 —a “blind” tasting menu where Chef Ronnie takes the wheel and diners simply sit back for the ride. Course after course arrived like well‑timed plot twists. Each plate carried Ronnie’s signature—precise technique, local sourcing, and just enough playful flair to keep you guessing. Verdict: Ronnie’s is a bona‑fide local star and, frankly, worth the journey even if you’re not local. Whether you’re marking a special occasion with the family or just want to hand the culinary reins to a chef who clearly loves what he does, book the Trust Menu, sit back, and trust. You’ll leave planning your next visit before you’ve even walked out the door. Highly recommended.

Myself and my partner had stumbled into Thornbury and found Ronnie's for a quick lunch. Little did we know that this would be the best restaurant we had ever visited! To begin with, the waiter was very friendly and showed us to our table. We quickly noticed that the decor was fantastic, there were beautiful flowers on each table and the background music was perfect. Amazing start. We picked our menu choices and were absolutely stunned how beautiful and how tasty each plate was. You can tell that Ronnie's have taken a lot of time to carefully create these dishes as they are so unique in terms of the combinations used. The wine choices were absolutely spot on too, we were fans of the Hungarian wine options available. The experience was so special, myself and my partner returned again a couple days later for Sunday lunch. We 100% recommend Ronnie's, we are already planning that we will return again and literally cannot wait.
